Its exact origin and nature are yet to examine – documented sightings are rare and reports of the few adventures that actually encountered one are rather inconsistent. Salvaged proceedings from the Institute of Microzoological Alchemy suggest that the sprintguard is either a juvenile dragon destined to grow even bigger or a completely different breed dedicated to guard its kin.
