Extended Progress Update: 14 June 2024

My writing blitz has received a turbo charge from the sheer amount of enjoyment I've been experiencing while working on this chapter—the variation (please replay this section for my remaining sanity 😌), variable call-backs, character introductions (Mrs. Corvin, Mr. Corvin, Huckleberry, Someone Else), romantic moments, and more. It has been the topic of our Extended Progress Updates for a time now. It's my hope to be off of Corvin land in the next week to ten days. I've been sharing where I'm at in the outline each time; I will do that in a moment. :D

 All told the Corvin family dinner scenes should be around: 140k words (without code, estimated.)

But there is more in store for the chapter to let some of the other RO routes shine (e.g. a phone call from R. Verner for their solo route or possibly visiting S. Dorran's room) and then I might have forgotten I sectioned a nightmare differently, lol. I never forgot the nightmare itself! (The ??? has a chance to get closer in this one. 👀) Just this chapter requires more words to give it form. 📚

As for where I'm at in the outline right now, we're at a split, a crossroad that hinges on whether or not you're a JR-mancer. Statistically speaking, most players (non-JR-mancers) will be treated to razzleberry cobbler and have just had an poignant choice about the past. This is after some exploration around the Corvin farm where you might have glimpsed, or even entered, one of J and the MC's old hangouts, The Fortress. (The tree house you can learn about in Book One.) It's also possible for B and A to have a private moment depending on how your dynamics are criss-crossing. For JR-mancers, your dessert might be cut short by something someone does. >.> This is what I will be working on after this update publishes that's a turning point for the romance. 💜

Regardless, it seems most everyone has survived this Corvin family meal! (That has more parts to it than just eating dinner because many of you know me by now.) You'll be uncovering so much.

Writing aside, we do have the results for our character aesthetic poll. The winner is:

He won with a whopping 40% of the votes despite how some of you strayed to vote for your questionable beloved (tormentor?), the ???. (Yes, this has undoubtedly caught their notice. Not sure if I should congratulate you or keep you in my thoughts. 🙃) C. Schade also performed well, and I believe the reveal of your optional influence on Ms. Verner's love life has kindled interest in Rosie. I will release more of these aesthetic documents. It just takes me a while to finalize/download/agonize over the pictures and descriptions to try to ensure my ~creative vision~.

There is more content on the horizon, including a J POV along with 'Moonstruck' for Mal lovers, so I hope you're looking forward to that as we move through the month and closer to our drop. 🌲

Reese

After taking the time to address everyone else gathered in her home, Mrs. Corvin purposefully peers behind you to where Reese stands.

"What a surprise," she states that politely enough without much emotion, smile intact.

"Hopefully a pleasant one?"

Reese's ability to navigate a social situation is unquestionable; however, that smooth lilt that should invite comfortable small talk only earns Mrs. Corvin's smile upticking, no real answer.

"Compared to what else is on my to-do list, I'd welcome most anyone through that door," she agreeably replies with a laugh. After that, her focus deviates to Alina and James to communicate something. "I do need some extra hands, though I hate to trouble you all…"

Ruby

Interesting. We'll have to see how this dinner plays out once the Verner heir is among the guests.
