Whatever the Dem Establishment Does to Zohran in NYC's Mayoral Race, We Must do to Them

Zohran Mamdani has just won the Democratic nomination for mayor of New York City. Andrew Cuomo, rejected by the voters, now threatens an independent run. Current mayor, Eric Adams—a man under federal investigation who abandoned the party and embraced Trump’s DOJ protection racket—has already declared his own independent candidacy. The stage is set. The players are known. And we already know how this play ends—unless we rewrite the script.

Which is why we must be perfectly clear from the outset:

Whatever the Democratic establishment does to Zohran Mamdani in the mayoral general election, we will do to the Democratic establishment—in 2026, in 2028, and in every contest going forward until nothing remains of your power structure.

This isn't a tantrum. It isn't a threat. It's a strategic reflection of your actions and your energy directly back towards you.

Because progressives have seen this all before, haven't we? We remember EXACTLY what you Democratic establishment did to India Walton.

Whatever the Dem Establishment Does to Zohran in NYC's Mayoral Race, We Must do to Them

Comments

I voted for Zellnor Myrie in the primary. And what Zohran chose not to do - share any observations, plans for improvement, or tacticsl intentions before the primary - needs to be corrected before the election. I'm a Democratic and I have voted for Democrats (save once) my entire voting life. I recognize and challenge the errors made by established Democrats in NYS and around the country. For Zohran to help us, as New York City residents and Democrats and people who seek justice and character and inclusion, he needs to be about and speak about what he is going to do and what he believes. In the primary, he benefited from Cuomo's assumptive expectations and people's anger at him. That won't be enough to win the mayoral election. His mother, the remarkable filmmaker Mira Nair, could help him tell his story. He needs to do that, for the sake of his election, his purported constituents, and the wider community.
