playing with fire
Added 2025-02-03 12:39:03 +0000 UTCfor this series, I enlisted the help of my handsome assistant, Carter (my partner). I often have ideas that I can’t execute on my own, in which case it’s essential to have a helping hand to bring my vision to life. and Carter is massively creative, so he often offers his own ideas and advice that enhance our shoots, especially when my vision is a loose concept. it then becomes a collaborative project and is always such a joy to work on. in some cases though, I have a very clear vision that I don’t want messed with, so I set up the shot and then have him press the shutter. I do enjoy his input though, so mostly our projects are the former. as in this case, I wanted to feel the movement, make the photos feel slightly wild and irresponsible (not sure how else to put it, but I hope you get what I’m saying), and so I told him what angle I wanted, fixed the settings and created the movement. once I felt satisfied, Carter wanted to play around with it a bit more with his own ideas in mind, so it became a more intimate series - getting up close and personal with the subject (me), and getting to see how the fire is affecting it.
