He also owned power tools that the Amish workers would use. The Amish were allowed to USE technology, but they weren’t allowed to OWN the technology. I guess the idea is that you’re not supposed to own things that could facilitate you moving further away from your family.

2025-04-16 13:27:30 +0000 UTCBob is right about the porch, my grandparents had a back porch, and a back deck, the deck was higher up it was not level with the ground, the porch was level with the ground and it’s like a screened in room. A patio is like a concrete slab in a back yard as far as I’m aware.
