Love Monet but it's very clear that her parasocial relationships with billionaires like Rihanna is making it hard for her to agree. She cannot allow the idea that no billionaire is ethical because then she wouldn't be able to continue supporting people like Rihanna without feeling guilty. The idea that we could ever be billionaires is a deliberate lie told by billionaires so that we continue to defend them. For thousands of years, when world leaders and tyrants stepped out of line, people revolted and did something. In this episode we were dropping weights and talking about obesity which is a really gross word used by the medical industry to bring people in larger bodies down and make healthcare harder. Most of us that struggle with mobility try to be considerate. I promise. I use a cane daily, but somewhere like that we rent a scooter. I’ve experienced the opposite and it was actually at Disney World. (kids were dropped off coverage at 18, pre-existing conditions, etc). Medical bankruptcy was on the verge of destroying the entire American economy. Lowkey, the UHC "tragedy" that just happened is because it's very clear over the 15 years following Obamacare that there will never again be legislation impacting the healthcare industry as much as the ACA did. I don't think Monet is defending billionaires, but her questions are a bit obtuse, maybe intentionally. There was a certain hurdle that she couldn't get over in understanding Bob. Sure, running a business can be hard, but the real reason some people get insanely rich isn't just hard work. It's about greed. No one can work their way to hundreds of millions, that's just impossible. Even if you started working when money was invented and made like a million dollars year, you still wouldn't have what Musk has today. Hard agree with Bob: There is no such thing as being an ethical billionaire. Hoarding that much resource is inherently unethical when we literally have to share this planet to survive. Further, there are always laborers propping up that billionaires process that are not being compensated fairly. I agree with Bob there needs to be mutually beneficial / sustainable exploitation. A symbiotic relationship so to speak. Excellent episode ladies; such important conversations. I do see what Monet is saying that most billionaires have put in hard work but arguably no more hard work than every other hard worker laboring 50hrs+ per week. The plumbers, construction workers, nurses, EMTs, factory workers, food production, etc work extremely hard but still have to financially struggle. Billionaires get way more money per hour- why? They don’t deserve it just because they had a good idea.

In order for anyone to be a billionaire every person along the chain of that person receiving such a huge sum of money had to be paid less than what they're worth. There are thousands of low wage people in the chain between her writing and recording those songs and her earning such a disproportionate amount from them. In whatever sector, earnings that high only exist on low waged labor. Who makes her merch? Who staffs her concerts? Just a couple of examples.
