as someone who recently went no contact with two former best friends, this analogy/sentiment is very validating to hear!!

Thank you for this episode!
It took me a while but I finally got to the point where I raised the price of admission for access to me, my life, and my time. If someone doesn’t have the emotional currency to afford the price, then they do not get access to me.
Family is definitely not excluded from this rule and my life has become so much more peaceful this way.

So comforting reading all these stories ♥️ no contact with my mom is the hardest and healthiest decision I’ve made! Took so many years of counselling and talking to other family members to understand how abusive things really were because I don’t have many memories from being a child. But talk therapy is definitely not for everyone! Lots of love to this community.

I was given up for adoption as a baby but when I hit 14 my birth father asked to participate in my life. It was great at first but as I got older he took our relationship for granted, was over stepping where he shouldn’t, and not stepping up where he should’ve. I tried to communicate our issues but he never got it, so at 24 I decided to go no contact since it was the only way he would understand that he needs to do better. Now at 27 I’m starting to talk to him again after showing some growth as a person.
