I went to school in NYS and we had to do the physical fitness test. Not every school had to do it, apparently.

Monét definitely has a point about not bothering when it comes to debating bigots who think your existence is somehow wrong, but when people like Bob who have the energy and desire to engage in those debates are willing to do it, I think it must mean something to other marginalized people watching someone stand up for people like them (esp young marginalized people)

25 yrs teaching HS in GA and our students had the physical fitness test every year. We also had a GQ club and Diva club much like what Bob described that also included mentoring from community members.

I went to Catholic school for 12 years in Tennessee (8 at one school, 4 years for high school). 1st-8th grade, we did the President’s Physical Fitness Test. Ran a mile, then clock how many pushups and pull-ups we could do. We also had to do a flexibility test. Public and private schools did it once a year.
