Bodice: Knowles coat sloper
Sleeve: Knowles two-piece sleeve (pea coat section).
Collar: Knowles notched lapel collar (single-breasted suit jacket section)
Fabric: Woven. I use cotton twill but change the physical property to default-simulation because it drapes better.
Detailing not shown in video: patch pockets, chest welt pocket, back vent, buttons, darts.
*The difference between Lab Coat 1 and Lab Coat 2 are that Lab Coat 1 has more tailored collar and the sleeve is 2-piece sleeve. Lab Coat 2 has standard convertible collar that is folded to imitate notched lapel, and the sleeve is 1-piece sleeve.
Super technical notes:
- I skip some steps from Knowles instruction to make the basic bodice, particularly on how to locate the underarm points. Author uses high-point-shoulder to armpit measurement which I found difficult to get a consistent measurement in 3D (where exactly is the armpit?). I ended up establishing the underarm point at chest circumference level. Because this point is low enough, there is no need to lower it further for coat enlargement.
- Author use center-back-neck to shoulder tip measurement (measurement #13) to locate the shoulder tip. The measurement given in avatar editor (Thomas v2) is 21.79 cm (Across shoulder CB back). However, when measured manually using basic tape measure, the measurement is about 20.5 cm. This difference is quite significant because the final back-shoulder-length differs as much as 2 cm.
- Instruction on how on make notched lapel collar varies greatly from author to author. I still found the neck opening a bit wide in finished garment, even after I forego neckline widening for coat sloper. I don't know whether this is a limitation in virtual environment, or other modification is needed.
