Here's a special Sunday Surplus map! One that is needed for the story set forth in the maps but is a throwback to a previous map. After surviving the nightmares set forth by the Beholder, players get a chance to push back inside the Beholder's lair. Well, less of a chance and more they cannot control their escape. The room however looks different--
Traveling along the path, the group found themselves moving through a familiar tunnel but noticed a glowing blue light emanating from the room ahead. Entering the room, they found themselves in the room where they had fought the Hobgoblins, this time however bathed in blue as spectral images began to illuminate around them. Then the group realized it was not a camp of warriors but instead, a camp of families as small spectral hobgoblin children ran around with male and female hobgoblin who seemed busy with their daily tasks. Suddenly a goblin ran into the room, screaming frantically as it pointed down the tunnel. Immediately the men dropped what they were doing, rushing to grab weapons as the women picked up the children and fled. As the men lined up, preparing to fight, a small hobgoblin child ran back clinging to one of the men's legs as tears streamed down her face. Soon a woman came down, pulling the child off as the child kicked and screamed and took her back up the stairs. The father wiped a few tears from his eyes, before steeling his resolve and turning to watch as the spectral images of the party ran into the room. Events unfolded as they remembered, first fighting the hobgoblin, then facing the Beholder, and ultimately moving on after examining the camp. Shortly after they left however the same hobgoblin child returned, rushing over to the dead hobgoblin as she tried to wake him up, hitting him on the chest before falling on him and sobbing. Was this a moment of reflection? A lingering questions... were they the bad guys this time?
