the idea sounds nice, but imagine the last 3 months of the year (during hte holidays!!). you'd have to set aside nearly $200 in those months. Hey Bob!! Hi Monét. . . I would say, personally for me, personally. That there is a difference between projecting and screaming/yelling and it really takes someone else to show you how or what the difference is if you don’t know it. Also, you just gotta lift the soft pallet a little bit. Even if you sing from the front of your mouth it makes a WOOOOOOOOOOOORLD of difference. Idk how the vocal node surgery effects the ability to do that. I know after I had my tonsils removed I couldn’t talk for a month and couldn’t sing for 2 months. I had the surgery 9 years ago and it’s still effecting me today. I lost 2 octave on top and 1 on the bottom. So just lift the soft that soft pallet to where you are comfortable. 💋💋 love you both!!

As someone who had vocal nodule surgery and then speech therapy to correct bad habits, it really pained me to hear Bob strain his voice. His singing voice was fine if a bit pitchy, but I bet it could be a solid voice with training, but if Bob, Jacob or anyone sees this please, PLEASE don’t yell or raise your voice….6 weeks isn’t a long time in the grand scheme of things…I screwed around and ended up with a 2nd surgery.:-(

I hope this replies to Jess Jackson. Voice lessons are more targeted to actors/performers I think. The voice lessons I had were about singing using my whole body (eg vocal resonance work) and using my imagination to bring the song story to life. Before that I tried singing lessons with 3 different teachers and the focus on techniques like breathing from the diaphragm made me more tense and less on key.

You probably won’t read this Bob but Monet is picking up on you putting tension into your singing. I had voice lessons and they really helped. I would dissuade you from singing lessons, which are different, because they are often more damaging than helpful.

I'm in the same boat as Bob, my own mother wont get the vaccine and its been very tough hearing her spew nonsense. I've always responded calmly. expressing my fear for her but also correcting her when she repeats misinformation. It helps that my best friend is a nurse caring for covid patients so i just tell her what my friend goes through. I also have told her i can't visit as much if she's gonna stay unvaxxed. my best advice for the saving question is: - the first thing you do once you get paid, or whenever you get some sort of income (even if its just your nona giving you 50 bucks) set aside a certain "goal" amount into a savings account let it be 5%, 10%, 20%, 50% whatever. If you keep all your paycheck in your direct deposit account you will most likely overspend on your goals cuz you have the money there to spend, if you limit that amount you will always avoy taking from your savings thus saving more. - With this cut out the use of your credit card, get a debit card it will help you control your spendings much better. - The most IMPORTANT tip is focus on you, learn to say no and stop trying to impress, this is something I learned recently. Don't go to every event, dinner party birthday party you're invited to. Consider if this is something you really want to do with your time and money, and don't pay other peoples drinks/food/gifts just cuz you want to be nice, pay it only when you know that person would also pay you the same thing (not that they need to) - REthink your consumer habits, we live in growing capitalist system and are exposed to advertisement in ways we dont even realize. Think about the NEED vs WANT, the environment impact of your choices and said "life" of your purchase. A lot of times is better a bigger investment into a higer quality product that lasts years, than a cheaper option that will last you a couple months until you need to get it replaced. - AND when you do get that coin stacking up in your savings, don't be telling it to the wind, trust me keep that shit to yourself. People will always take advantage of you when they know you can spend it, from free drinks/food to straight up ask to borrow money that they will never pay back.

Bob you'd definitely sound great w some singing lessons! I agree with Monet, it can harm your voice without learning the proper techniques, esp as you're recovering. In the mean time, recording yourself singing and listening back can be really helpful. Meditating while keeping a steady note in an "aa" or "o" sound in your comfortable range (think around where you talk but don't feel like you're suppressing your voice) helps your recognition of pitch and gain better pitch control. Doing basic scales and basic warm up exercises from YouTube can also help w fundamentals: but nothing beats lessons because you do not want to get comfortable with the wrong technique!
