I swim a lot so I know that washing my hair (think Lupita Nyong’o) several days in a row is fine. However, you have to use the right shampoo. Don’t use a super harsh one for daily use. I use a moisturizing shampoo 3x per week and then a regular/all purpose shampoo at the end of the week to make sure I got off any buildup or lingering chlorine. I recommend searching @jenniferrosenyc @monarchcurl @camillejanae on Twitter for textured hair advice. They are professional licensed stylists. As for the hygiene topic….lololol y’all were a mess! Bob, if you can’t be bothered or you’re in a depressive episode, please get shower wipes. You can find them at camping stores (REI, etc.). They’re like big wet wipes. So at least you’ve gotten off the sweat and some dead skin from the day. Better than nothing!

Ive heard from dental students that brushing your teeth right after eating is actually bad ! Apparently you strip enamel off. This happens because acids from our food weaken the teeth making it easier for enamel to be stripped. And brushing will quickly strip enamel off the teeth ! Just sharing cause i know quite a few people from my old job who like to brush right after their lunch and i want to spread to anyone else who might do it as well !

as someone who struggled peeing the bed into being a teenager it almost brought me to tears knowing I wasnt alone.

I CAN NOT shower every day. I have multiple skin diseases and showering too often and removing too many of my body's natural oils can cause breakouts, Large scaly rashes permanent skin discoloration, etc. I shower every other day unless i have a specific reason i need to shower like exercise etc. The day between showers i have to have to replenish my body's oils.

Love you guys too ❤️. That's interesting to learn that cavities are genetic. I only really started taking care of my teeth within the past 5 years but I've never had any of the issues that people I know have, such as cavities, toothaches etc. As far as hygiene, I live in the tropics, so I shower every day before I leave home, and every night before going to bed. That's how I was raised and that's how I'm raising my child. And this claim that people make that it will dry out your skin has never happened to anyone I know. My skin is very soft and supple because I use body butters, lotion, etc. We also change out of our outside clothes before we sit on any furniture etc. I don't think it's necessary to wash "type 4" hair every day. I just wash mine when I feel it needs a wash. Wash day is a whole production so it's not practical to do every day anyway.

Monet, rubbing your hands together does make them dry faster...however, those dryers are super germy. Also, Bob, your genitals are not more hygienic than your hands.

Also for people who want to clean their hair without stripping oil, a co-wash is a great option. I used to have type 3b hair (but now I shave my head) and Id use a cowash almost daily and use a bit of leave in conditioner+curl gel and my hair was never dry and I even diffuser dried it, only used shampoo like once a week or so

PSA soap only works by *scrubbing* not just letting soapy water run over you, that doesnt do anything. Fabric washcloths are the way to go because you launder them vs a loofah which is made of plastic and is non porous and collects dead skin+bacteria and hangs wet n nasty in the shower. Inform your local straight man to wash his feet and ass because they literally only go in the shower to jack off and MAYBE use soap on their armpits and balls for 5 mins and thats it. I lived with straight guys who would leave shit stains on the toilet seat because they didn't clean their ass so I will always cover a seat with toilet paper before using it if it's not my personal toilet lmao

As a hairstylist I can confirm washing your hair everyday is so bad for your hair AND your scalp! You’re stripping away all the natural oils that form a protective layer and telling your sebaceous oil glands to produce oil at a rapid rate which leads to people saying “I can’t go a day without it getting oily.” You’re also drying out your hair which makes it more prone to split ends and breakage. Use a cleansing conditioner on the non-shampoo days instead!

IDK if anybody else has mentioned this, but pee is not sterile. While a lot of people learned in school that pee is sterile, that's a common misconception based on old research that has since been disproven. It was thought for a while that pee was sterile because the urethra is usually sterile, but that's because the average human pees regularly enough (and pee comes out with such force) that bacteria aren't able to establish themselves in the urethra. It turns out pee itself is definitively not sterile.

As a Brazilian, we shower at least once a day but a lot of people shower twice a day every day or more. I cannot stay without a shower for longer than 1/2 days. One time I went camping in the mountains of Utah with white americans and we stayed there for 5 days. There was only freezing cold water, so they did not shower at all for that time. I had to take a shower on day 2 cuz I could not stand feeling dirty. Brazilians are very very clean and neurotic about cleaning. They even bathe their newborns every other day if not everyday haha. I was appalled that Mila Kunis does not shower her kids often...those kids must stink!!!

As a whitey, I use a washcloth 85% of the time when I bathe or shower. I admit, however, that since I started to work from home, I don't shower everyday. Monet let me tell you from experience that you would not rather shit on yourself before shitting on airplane. I also have a thing about using public restrooms.. I refuse to use them unless it absolutely necessary even then I rather just pop a squat and pee or hold out until I'm somewhere safe 😂 ANYWAYS, I was on a greyhound in D.R. traveling from my grandmas house to the hotel which was like 3-4 hours long. On this particular day I had the bubble guts and I refuse to use the bathroom on the bus trying to hold out until we got to the hotel. Literally the last 10-20 minutes before arriving I started to feel it all coming out and I hauled ass to the bathroom, did what I needed to do to then find out there was no toilet paper. 😩🤬 The worst thing was that once we arrived at the hotel, I immediately tried to go to our room and shower but our room wasn't available yet so I had to wait with my shitty ass for a whole hour and a half until I was able to take a shower. NEVER AGAIN .

I’m at the wetting the bed portion of the podcast. I was about 16 y/o old. Me, my mom and my brother were spending a weekend with my nephews family(my brothers sons family) and I peed in the air mattress that my brother and I were sharing. And I had to tell my mom when I realized . Thank god she (and my brother) have a sense of humor for these situations and she encouraged me to laugh at myself while acknowledging that accidents happen. It’s one thing to pee in the bed… but to pretty much ruin someone’s air mattress (who you don’t know very well) is EMBARRASSING.
