Idk if its bc of plummeting literacy rates due to the abolishment of libraries in the local areas of bobs fans, but I never said to not care for your friends feelings. I think part of being a good friend is going out of your way to express joy for them and with. And yes part of that can be making your friends feel good, supporting them, and showing love in your own way, if you want to do that. But it doesnt not mean that you are responsible for how others feel about certain situations, or how others will react to you actions or the situation. If monet does not want to wear the sweater, and bob expresses their feelings are hurt. Monet can acknowledge that, express empathy, but in no way, shape or form is Monet responsible for how Bob reacts to monets actions. Monet can feel and do whatever the hell they want. Monet does not need to compromise her actions on the subject just to appease bobs feelings, if Monet does not want to. Monet is not responsible for bobs happiness. You are only 100% in charge of only two things in this world. And thats your thoughts and actions. Bob is the only person that can validate their purchase and make themselves feel good about the situation.
