please PLEASE keep doing episodes with Dakota-- the stories you're sharing are incredibly valuable for the next generation of queens and beyond. You two were a part of an important piece of drag history in the scene you created and that history needs to be preserved!!!!!

Just wanna share that this is incredible, thank you so much for this - Dakota said so many great things about the colonial concept of gender and sexuality and that's SO important !!

does anyone know where can we follow Dakota? Iโ€™ve been looking for them in Instagram and Facebook and dont find their account :(

this was an amazing convo !!! loved hearing about dakota and bob's history in the city !! and i love when dakota brings up the differences of what gen x and y gays went through versus gen z. we were all kinda slowly figuring all that gender stuff out at like the cusp of the new millennium and early 2000s. i really really enjoyed this exclusive <3

KatieRose

In regards to the Marsha discussion, Iโ€™m guessing that people view her as a trans because maybe she told her close friends thatโ€™s what she felt. Those friend may have spread the info after she passed. Just me guessing.

David Sanchez

more catch-ups and reminiscing!

Whatโ€™s it called?

Siba Tobias

Learned a lot from this podcast and loved Dakota !!! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธand you guys are right growing up as a kid, teen, or young adult in the early 2000s to mid 2012 There was a lot of hush hush vibes going on, people had to hide their weirdness to fit in, bullying was something that was considered as normal and kids were told to just take it, mental health was very taboo, Country leaned very right winged !! Even when Obama became president there was still a lot of prejudice and discrimination. A lot of right winged people & media were destroying his integrity. Basically If you wasn't white, then you experienced some cringe stuff growing up during this era. Gen Z folks are just exceptional and really doing the human race proud, the future looks very promising.

Chris MAC

This was really good. Iโ€™ve always seen Dakota on social media sharing their words. Iโ€™ve like come to appreciate them a lot more. Thank you Dekota for just being yourself and taking down those ignorant bitches all these years and years to come.

David Sanchez

Please bring Dakota back again! Iโ€™m learning so much about history and also love hearing your wild stories!

Eric Wong

Loved hearing Dakota talk, they need their own college class on gender & sexuality! C'mon, educating the children! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

Obviously there are homophobes here but in my mind that didn't register as a general problem just like a small town/ some villages problem. Its might be different for other people but I grew up where my dads best friend/ my godmother is a butch lesbian and she used to take me to do things all the time because her wife/ girlfriend didn't want to have kids (this wife/ gf is sooo messy to this day)

Zanele Booi

Its so wild hearing you guys talk about the bush era and how yall and to fight for marriage equality cause where Im from marriage equality came late (2005) but I as a 21 year old genuinely thought growing up that gay and lesbians marriage was allowed internationally then as I grew up I thought it would be allowed in all western and European countries and Ive been learning more and more. But like from birth till 16 I didn't even know gay marriage was a point of contention since I thought it had always been legal where I'm from. I even got taught sex ed about gay people in primary school. I didn't even know people thought aids was a "queer disease" because we were taught that anyone can get and have HIV so it was mind blowing when I started consuming queer media that wasn't rupauls drag race or random shows that had a queer couple.

Zanele Booi

I used to watch them on Kat Blaqueโ€™s Teas and Kikis. THEIR AMAZING!

I LOVE DAKOTA! And When God was Queer has been on non-stop since listening to this episode.

Adriana

Sending Monet love during all winners ;)

I loved this! I was so happy when Dakota started talking about how the idea of two genders was used as a tool to colonized indigenous spaces. As a native of an island in the Micronesia I greatly appreciate it.

This was a fire ass episode!! I loved listening to the stories and honestly it was a history lesson for sure! Very interesting to hear a queer perspective from someone who was raised in the North, specifically NY when I was personally raised in the South and have a totally different perspective! Loved it!

Instant love for Dakota. This was a great conversation

NOT 9/11 the musical!! Bahahahaha

Jessica Hill

Where is Monet?!

I had just graduated college and moved to DC in 2008. We all went to watch Obamaโ€™s inauguration and to say it felt like true magic is an understatement. The complete shift was unreal and so energizing. (It was also cold af if anyone was there and remember! Ha!)

MaryM

Same. There were so many epic sounding YouTubes, documentaries, etc in this episode!

MaryM

Dakotas sign off ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Anthony St. John

Dakota's podcast sounds interesting, that's true that deities in ancient times were more androgynous

Anthony St. John

Omg thanks for introducing the siblings to Dakota, this was LOVELY

Sharon really reps the white midwest with the casual racism

Anthony St. John

Getting arrested during your show.... Werk

Anthony St. John

Yes it is? Thatโ€™s two decades ago wth

Dot

I love hearing yโ€™all talk about marriage equality and the before times, Lol. I remember when bush was elected and thinking that it was never going to happen in my lifetime, it reminds me that things have changed and still can.
