This was not a good start to this series which is actual a lit idea in theory. The Jumpin Jack Flash episode is so funny and more than makes up for the shaky start to this series.

I love both but, I have also been to a reading where Alice Walker shades the movie and says if you wanna know why I have a problem with the movie read the book. That is not a direct quote but, very close she did not like Spielberg. This was at the Berkeley public library in the 90s around the time she was with that hottie Tracy Chapman.

It was an abusive tactic to diminish her self esteem and as the film and book portrays, all the men in her life was telling her this. But because they said it doesn't mean celie or whoever portray her needs to look "ugly". It's more a commentary about life long emotional abuse.
