fanbox

If you haven't heard the news...

Fanbox is heading down the same hole as patreon. It will start by disallowing some extremes (my bread and butter) and I predict that it will continue to descend down the same puritan pit until it becomes another safe-space husk of it's former glory.

Right now I am considering stayng until I am banned or proactively switching to subscribestar.

https://www.pixiv.net/info.php?id=8788 The announcement.

https://subscribestar.adult/club-wabbit The subscribestar.

I thought I would let all of you weigh in on this.

Thank you for subscribing and following, if you want to switch to subscribestar, use the link above. But please do not subscribe to both, I would feel guilt.

According to JP artist looking into this. Pixiv is citing Article 14.26 from the Term of Use which is IRL NSFW Content (Fictional stuff is article 7, which is not mentioned at all). So the main problem seem to be idiots selling/posting real, illegal stuff.

but yeah i expect it would take a few weeks maybe since it feels like is getting a lot of traffic right now and i know they are a small staff

ok im gonna be honest i dont know if you have to link it but you can unlink it after approval if you want i know many who dont have their social media lins at all (another thing if they take more than a week and it can definitely take them so much more than that with so many new people trying to get in since they have a small staff try sending them and appeal or whatever is call and put all your info of places where you have fans in those too)

you dont need to link it at all just in the message for approval that you sent put your twitter page or baraag page on it so they see your follower count

Well given that this is likely due to pressure from Mastercard like many other examples of pornography being censored you can blame American Corporatocracy for once again being puritans.

Actually I need to consider this. Subscribestar has a warning to charge over 3.00 and cites payment process fees. I think I will keep it at a 3.00 minimum to find out if it's still sustainable.

Polyle

Ah, you're right. It's been ages since I converted the prices for the fanbox and I just went with what subscribestar suggested for a minimum and went from there. I think a 3$ minimum and 5$ second tier is where it should be. Thank you for noticing, not rude.

Polyle

Can I un-link it afterwards? I don't like having social media linked to subscription platforms.

Polyle

Hopefully nothing bad happens but I do have one question, would the tier prices in SubscribeStar be the same? I don't know if this is because the page is under review but the prices are a bit higher over there than they currently are here (300 Yen is half of 5 USD in my currency). I hope this comment doesn't come across as rude or anything, it's more for keeping track of my personal finances and making adjustments. In any case, I will be happy to support wherever. Good luck.

https://baraag.net/web/@xephion/109348967322396815 ok so maybe is not gonna affect fictional characters and this is only for IRL stuff check the link to see what i mean

the other good news is that a lot of people is not ok with this so i feel they may go back on this but if they dont pixiv is not good at detecting people works or doings they dont have the manpower of patreon and they wont stalk you like pat does. so you can always keep doign what you are doing right now. but fanbox is dying with this decision no doubt about that.

yeah subcribestar take some time to approve accounts check back in a few days

Btw subcribestar takes sometime to approve your page so remember to send them places where they can see you have followers that speeds up the process like your twitter or baraag or pixiv they just want to see if you have enough people to get support.

oh no i cant pledge just yet ;o; i suppose it has to be until after you've been approved.

shit man. Here i thought the japanese companies and payment processors would be immune to this sort of thing. I'll be switching to subscribestar then. I dont really like the user experience of pixiv/fanbox anyways

i hope so too that is just IRL stuff and not fictional stuff or that this huge backlash they are gonna get make them reconsider since most people uses fanbox for all that content is more than 50% of their platform (but jp people at least can move to other jp platforms like fantia and dmm and many others but for westerns like us we are fucked)

If they ban me they ban me, but I will start building the subscribestar page as well for insurance. I'll edit this post to include the URL for it, and thank you for your feedback, Carame. :)

Polyle

Honestly probably best to wait till the full announcement is made later in the month. Maybe the backlash will cause them to do an alternative? Who knows if it'll swerve and end up targeting like AI or photography etc. Honestly feels like the the money they get from the content they are about to try and ban would be too huge of a money loss.
