Q&A - Summer 2024

Hey everyone, I'm once again way overdue for a Q&A session, so... send me a Q and I'll reply with my A! (wait...)

The regulars know the drill, but if you're new around here, you can pretty much ask anything, and I'll mostly answer anything. Want to know my thoughts on a current event or something I might have missed in the news? My opinions on some sort of recent media? (I haven't seen Deadpool yet, sorry) Want to know who I'd like to see tortured by one of MrBeast's saw traps? Just need me to help you with a math problem? You'll be screwed there, but either way, post your queries and I'll reply to them over the next few days/weeks, then check back here to read all the answers!

ALSO, I'm really short on "Advice Patreon Asked For" questions, so if you'd like to be a part of that segment send me a Private Message. Try and keep them relatively short (150 words-ish, I should be able to read it out loud in about a minute), and nothing life-altering, we want to keep it relatively fun.

Finally, another reminder for newbies to check out the COLLECTIONS section of Patreon, where you can find all the back catalog videos conveniently sorted by year, as well as past Q&As if you just want to read some of the old questions I've answered.

Q&A - Summer 2024

Comments

Yeah, I was referring to the old tab on your website called "The College Years." I guess I was surfing the way back machine one night and stumbled upon it and wondered, "What kind of crazy shit could have been recorded on these files?" None of them work naturally, however if you think they're too past their expiration date, then I won't pry. Keep up the great work dude!

CajunMane

The "shows" aren't really much to listen to, I worked for a company that broadcast to businesses, I didn't really do bits, I announced other stuff. I do have audio from my old college radio shows, but I don't really think many people would be particularly interested in them (I've put up a clip here called "Buckley Pops his Radio Cherry" that you can hear). As for "demos", if you mean the stuff that wasn't actually on my Dose page, but was on the page I kinda had for potential radio managers to listen to? I don't really even remember what was there, but it definitely would be very out of date. If you mean the old Doses that aren't on YouTube, they're currently on Bandcamp, but I could probably put them here some day.

Adam Buckley

I know I'm a bit late to this post, but I have been wondering about something for the longest time. You've mentioned in previous videos how you used to work as a host in the radio industry, is there any way we can find these old radio shows uploaded somewhere? I understand that copyright is likely the reason why they can't be released, but it's worth a shot asking anyway. Also, will you ever reupload the old demos from your old website, or are they officially considered ADoseOfBuckley lost media? lol

CajunMane

Do you think that iDubbbz’s Content Cop has killed Leafy or really any of YouTube channels he targeted? I personally think that Leafy’s videos were already getting super repetitive before iDubbbz came into the equation. I don’t even really think Content Cop has done much to solidify if Ian is a bonafide YouTube killer. He’s made 11 Content Cops, 7 of them target a specific YouTubers. Of them, the only other one you could really argued killed the channel is ‘howtoPRANKitup’, but the others? Jinx’s channel is pretty dead today and he’s been criticized for his reaction content long before iDubbbz, but his decline began several weeks after Content Cop, likely due to pressure from bigger YouTubers. The Fine Bros lost subs for a brief period, but that was due to attacks from big YouTubers, not just iDubbbz. Even with that, they’re still doing better today than they ever have been Keemstar (DramaAlert) experienced a significant decline after Content Cop, but after about a year, his numbers returned to normal, so you can’t really argue that he’s still a dead channel. Tana Mongeau, you could argue was directly affected by Content Cop (released in February 2017; buildup began in January when iDubbbz invaded Tana’s public meetup), but her growth eventually recovered; certainly not dead RiceGum, you’d think would be the most influential because it has the most views, but it also had the least effect of any post Keemstar episode, possibly due to the bait-n-switch title/thumbnail and shortening of the internet's attention span.

You know how in today's generation there seems to be a surplus or in some cases, an over saturation of products in one genre like first-person shooters or superhero movies? Was it the same deal back in your generation? I can remember all of those mascot platforms that came after Mario and Sonic. Some of them weren't so bad, like Gex for instance, but there were alot of failures, perhaps most infamously Bubsy the Bobcat.

Chude Uzoka

Are there any topics you avoid covering, either because they’re too overdone or too controversial?

Chude Uzoka

This probably changes on regular basis, but what’s your least favorite/most hated internet trend right now, and why do you think it's gained so much traction?

Chude Uzoka

What do you think about the current state of online criticism and YouTube commentary? Has it become too formulaic or predictable? Because I can only of maybe three other prominent YouTubers who are good at making pointed criticisms, while still being informative and humorous.

Chude Uzoka

I've been playing video games for close to 40 years now so the answer to this is probably some garbage NES game or even a really bad Intellevision game that's escaped my memory (I've also played Superman N64 and Atari ET). Perhaps the most recent "disappointment" for me was Rollerdrome. Looked so cool, thought it'd be like a Tony Hawk game with some shooting, but the difficulty is just absurd at times and the stunts/skating takes a back seat to the combat which isn't particularly good. I really wanted it to be fun, and I didn't feel like it was.

Adam Buckley

What are some of the worst video games you’ve ever played? Or biggest disappointments?

Chude Uzoka

There's certainly a "can't it be both?" quality to the answer to your final question there. I don't know, I would be entirely unsurprised if all of these feuds (at least the ones that don't end in deaths) are scripted/created to get more publicity. Neither Chris Brown nor Quavo are exactly lighting it up right now, Quavo's only two hits in the last 5 years have been helped by Lana Del Rey and Justin Bieber, and Chris Brown had an anomaly in 2022 and then has spend the last 2 years releasing songs to silence, so they'd benefit from a public beef... although funny enough, I've heard practically nothing about it. Not compared to the Kendrick/Drake one where it was all over socials.

Adam Buckley

I've heard OF him, but I've never really bothered to look into him. Kinda seems pretty low-tier, guess he's flown under my radar.

Adam Buckley

Nintendo fans will ALWAYS love Nintendo, and you have to also understand that these aren't the same people. Someone like me who doesn't give a rats ass about competitive eSports or fan-made tournaments sees a new Mario game and goes "Ohh, new Mario game, I would like that please and thank you". What Nintendo fans like about Nintendo is just how uncomplicated things are (for the most part). Game comes out for system, you buy game, stick it in the system, it plays. There is SOME installing now (and updates), but a Nintendo Switch is about as close to the same experience people my age had with a Nintendo/SNES 35 years ago. So they'll never care about that kinda drama. Personally, I already know that NO companies actually care about me, so I'm way past caring about "anti-consumer" things, as long as they aren't blatantly illegal (and I think part of my problem with anti-Nintendo people is, for all the good points they make sometimes, they have a lot of bad ones that amount to "wahh I just want free stuff and feel entitled to do whatever I want with Mario and Pikachu, they're basically mine because I bought a game once!"

Adam Buckley

Someone may have asked this before, but do you think that Chris Brown/Quavo feud was all a publicity stunt? I know that Kendrick Lamar hates Drake more than you even and that all seems genuine, but do you think Chris Brown/Quavo is serious or is Chris Brown just a genuinely terrible person?

Chude Uzoka

Have you heard a song called "Slut Me Out" by Memphis rapper NLE Choppa? It's practically bottom 5 material, not even kidding. It came out in 2022, but it didn't chart until the following year. Even the people I know who like this guy were saying this was bad. This thing is bad in a way we don’t get very often! I’ll give the production some credit for being better balanced than you’d expect with the weird whir behind the flimsy hi-hat and snare and bubbling bass, but that’s ruined by NLE Choppa’s painfully clunky flow and a string of sex references where it sounds like he needs sex explained to him. What’s so bizarre is that it has the feel of someone who wants to come across as dominant in the bedroom, but has no context how to sell it well: putting aside how the hook is literally ‘slut me out’ - which might be the worst possible way to describe someone going above and beyond in the bedroom, because it sounds like you’re getting pimped - he tells the girl to bring a friend because she’s not ‘enoughie’. He tells her to hush it like some kidney beans, and to ‘suck my balls, come chickpea me’ - apparently he’s gone vegan and really wants to make that a thing because he also has the line that his ‘nut taste like sugar gravy’. And then we get the lines about putting her ass in his face until he gets pinkeye, and that he doesn’t come quick because he controls his bladder - glad to know NLE Choppa doesn’t understand biology either - and I start thinking this is a joke, but he doesn’t have the delivery or flair to make this like ‘WAP’, (a song that I also dislike). Honestly, it makes way too much sense when you realize that he first leaked this song back in 2021… on a stream with Adin Ross. A song so bad it's almost comical.

Chude Uzoka

Long paragraphs incoming. I recently rewatched your "Nintendo Hates Fans and Money" video and it really stuck out to me, now more than ever. Despite their frequent bitching, Nintendo’s apostles will worship the company with religious dedication. Ardent loyalty to some far away corporation is highly abnormal and will lead to highly abnormal outcomes. Nintendo’s well aware of the immense goodwill their customers share and rather than reciprocate it, they harness it and are riding it all the way to the bank. Nintendo is such an utterly baffling company to me. It seems the hard part of running a gaming company comes easy to them. They can pump out masterpiece after masterpiece without breaking a sweat, (The Super Mario Galaxy games, Mario Odyssey, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild, Metroid Prime, etc) as far as I can tell, they treat their employees quite well. It’s just the simple no-brainer public relations task that seems to utterly escape them. If EA, Blizzard, Sony or Epic Games did just some of the things Nintendo does on a regular basis we’d never hear the end of it. The fans are what sets Nintendo apart from all of these other companies. They don’t need to hire a PR team to run damage control because their most devout fans will just do it for them. No matter how low the company stoops, they’ll always have a human shield of fanboys ready to defend them. In addition to the Smash Bros. Big House tournament that you mentioned in your video, Nintendo also shut down a Splatoon tournament when those players stood in solidarity with the Melee players and shut down the charitable sale of Joy-Cons honoring the late Etika. Three days later, they unveiled Sephiroth in Smash Bros. Ultimate and all the backlash just magically disappeared. These people are so quick to forget Nintendo's shortcomings you'd think they had amnesia. The fans were more outraged over Byleth being added to Smash Ultimate than the company pretty much neutering their esports scene. Complaining about an optional DLC sword fighter in a game with 80 other characters only shows where the fans' priorities lie. -Charging $20 a year for a barely functional online service that was free on prior systems. -Charging $80 for controllers with such significant defects that they make many games borderline unplayable. -Releasing re-skins of games that cost more than the originals. -Arbitrarily limit the release window of games for no other reason than to jack up the price. -Forcing customers to purchase an additional console if they want to create a second island in Animal Crossing. I say all of that to ask this: At what point will fans decide they’re no longer willing to get ripped off? When will they finally realize that they don’t owe Nintendo anything and that a corporation located 6000 miles across the ocean doesn’t actually care about them? tl;dr Sega better

Chude Uzoka

Ok. Just thought it had potential…

Ben Jackson

I don't have much interest in doing songs from several years ago at this point, so I don't think that'd happen. The only time I might do a "Cold Case" now is if a song becomes relevant again for some reason, like it becomes really popular (a good one would be "Holding Out for a Hero" for example, which has been used by like 10 movies in the last 3 years it feels like)

Adam Buckley

I have another question. It’s late, but I remember on one of your worst songs lists, you mentioned Maroon 5’s Don’t Wanna Know. I like it, but I see potential as it on a musical autopsy. Have you ever thought about covering it in the future?

Ben Jackson

Thanks Kody, I appreciate the message, and yeah, I've done my best to not become one of those pricks, BUT acknowledging at the same time that people who work real jobs are doing a lot more important/harder work than I am, unlike some of these assholes (on both sides, I made that video about Hasan, but the other day I saw CatTurd use the phrase "one of us" while referring to waitresses, truck drivers, tradesmen, and other working class people... dude Tweets for a living and lives on a ranch, he can piss right off... anyway, mini rant for ya there).

Adam Buckley

You know what? I had a night off and went "I'm gonna pay the $6 or whatever to watch it, Microsoft has it on sale", watched it, and then TWO DAYS LATER, it was free on a streaming service here called Crave (it houses most of the HBO library in Canada and a few other things, a few Showtime shows, some Canadian shit)... Anyway, I really enjoyed it. It's a Mad Max movie for sure, lots of fun action scenes and just purely insane characters, Chris Hemsworth did a great job, after watching it I'm very confused as to why they didn't just get Charlize Theron, but I haven't read anything so I don't know, maybe there was some disputes... but obviously, to be as spoiler free as possible, it IS a prequel but... one that doesn't have any reason for Charlize to not play that character in the last half or whatever. Anyway, I enjoyed it.

Adam Buckley

I don’t have a question. Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I found your videos a couple of years ago (probably longer now that I stop to think about it….). It’s always a highlight of the day when a new video pops up in my feed. The fact that you are a normal guy and don’t buy into all that “influencer nonsense” (lifestyle, demeanor, etc) is something that keeps me coming back. Thank you. :)

Kody Robbins

You seen furiosa yet?

Bryson Witsell

Theyre not my favorite but I think they're the first band we should show aliens cause it's got a little bit of everything musically and it's mostly inoffensive nonsense lyrics

Bryson Witsell

Honestly, I really haven't looked much into her. I saw some stuff where she was dressed like a Luchador, and some people at the comic shop were talking about her. I hadn't even heard her name said out loud until a couple weeks ago, and was like "Oh, THAT'S how it's said? Weird". I think that's where Pop is going right now though, you got JoJo Siwa doing this KISS thing she's doing, there was Poppy a while back attempting to go "metal", you have to do something to stand out, ESPECIALLY when you don't have the looks of a more traditional pop star (which, looking at pictures of her without the crazy makeup, Chappell would never have made it 12 years ago, or if she did it definitely would have been as a curiosity at best, which is very possible that that's all she is now.).

Adam Buckley

What are your thoughts on Chappel Roan? Do you think she’s a Lady Gaga knock off?

tiedyefruitbat

I feel like I've heard of it, but I don't know if I've ever watched it. Especially when it comes to like, video game characters or anime characters, "who would win" doesn't really interest me because the answer is "whoever the writer decides". In reality, Batman would get his ass handed to him by every single member of the Justice League in a one-on-one fight, but the writers figure out ways to make it interesting.

Adam Buckley

Was it an Honorable Mention? I wouldn't look too deep into that, I think Genius (then "Rap Genius") definitely existed then, I just didn't really have that many jokes to make about it so it didn't go there. Even reading the lyrics though it's still a really dumb song.

Adam Buckley

Yes, a lot of Top 40/Pop radio stations used to cut the rap verses, or artists would make versions that didn't have it. Even not THAT long ago, like the Taylor Swift song Bad Blood that has a Kendrick Lamar verse in it, Pop stations would regularly play a version that didn't have that (which I believe the label created/provided, radio stations weren't editing it out). In most cases they didn't just play an instrumental over it, it's just gone, the song is 40 seconds shorter or whatever. That Sia song with Sean Paul (I think?) same deal, there's a version that pretty much gets rid of him. Cheap Thrills... that's it. Anyway, yeah very VERY common in the radio industry at one point, getting to be a LITTLE less so, but even still, if you listen to your local Top 40 radio station and then look what's actually in the Top 40, you won't find a lot of those songs on there. They don't want the music to be too "Urban".

Adam Buckley

They're fine radio music, it's the type of thing that I likely wouldn't change the channel for (although I could go my whole life without ever hearing Dani California again), but nothing I'd ever go out of my way to listen to.

Adam Buckley

Not really... I once bought a Huey Lewis and the News album to play at work partially as a joke, and partially because Heart of Rock And Roll is actually a fun song (if not goofy as hell), but like... I suppose for a guy who listens to things like Pantera and Sepultura a lot, that crowd might think that's a "guilty pleasure".

Adam Buckley

Quite a bit I suppose in some ways, but also because I spent so long working with music/'radio adjacent", it doesn't bother me and I can listen to anything. But there's some crossover, like she enjoys a lot of 2000s rock that I don't find entirely awful (like Queens of the Stone Age for example)

Adam Buckley

How do you feel about the red hot chili peppers?

Bryson Witsell

Have you ever heard of DEATH BATTLE on YouTube? They’re a fixture in the VS community, pitting different characters from pop culture against each other like Deadpool and Deathstroke, Mario and Sonic, Goku and Superman, Luke Skywalker and Harry Potter and a bunch of characters. They do lots of research. Something tells me you’d enjoy their stuff, but disagree with the outcome of a lot of their fights.

Chude Uzoka

“6 Foot, 7 Foot” barely missed your worst of 2011 list because the lyrics were too nonsensical and you couldn’t understand them. Now that Genius exists, does the song make more or less? (P.S, the “g” in lasagna isn’t silent, as a bunch of people say so. If it was, you’d pronounce it differently)

Chude Uzoka

No doubt you’re familiar with those really white radio stations that’ll cut the rap verse from a pop song and just play an instrumental, but one station in Pennsylvania, 93.7, is very selective with it’s choices. Here’s what I mean. “Strip That Down” is completely stripped of Quavo’s verse and Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home” scrubs Ty Dolla $ign’s verse. Pop RnB is similarly affected. Usher’s “Yeah” removes the contributions from Lil Jon and Ludacris (though Lil Jon’s ad-libs could still be heard throughout the song). Blackstreet’s “No Diggety” cuts out all the rap verses and TLC’s Waterfalls cuts out the rap verse from Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes (even I thought she was apart of the group). This is odd to me because I’ve heard them play actual rap songs like 2Pac’s “Changes”, Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise”, Nelly (Ride Wit Me, Dilemma & Just A Dream), lots of Eminem (Lose Yourself, Without Me, Real Slim Shady, Sing for the Moment, Houdini, etc), Fat Joe’s “What’s Luv”, Pras’ “Ghetto Superstar” (minus Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who’s ad-libs can still be heard the track) and Flo Rida (does he really count?) Have you ever seen something like this? I’ve never seen a radio station do this before.

Chude Uzoka

We'll see. I did talk about it here on Patreon, feel free to check that out (should be in the 2024 collection or just search "Tyson" in the Patreon search), and I'm sure I'll watch it when it does happen, we'll see if anything makes it worth discussing.

Adam Buckley

Any plans to cover the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight in a video?

Bayan

Any guilty pleasure songs? Im talking real guilty, like admitting that mmmbop is a great song, kind of guilty.

Sick Sargent

How much does your taste in music differ from your partner's? My wife and I like some similar music, but she's in to more poppy stuff than I am, which I actually appreciate because it provides some variety when we're driving, even though it's not my favorite.

Stephen Leblanc

Jason died of anthrax, remember?

Ash Archer

Like that fucking Aussie breakdancer….

Ash Archer

Shit dude, that’s dark AF

Ash Archer

I don't think there's a particular reason, no. Just sort of "if it seems really dumb, I'll make fun of it". I've done so many now too that coincidences or similarities are bound to pop up, being able to compare songs, especially with the lack of creativity from so many artists.

Adam Buckley

We would welcome you with open arms, great regional cuisine, and axe throwing bars.

StephenShepherdOfficial

Is there a particular reasoning to your choosing of songs for your Musical Autopsy segments? Katy Perry doing the Beyonce in your last one for example.

Kathleen Beck

I "practice" something I call "optimistic nihilism". The idea that we all just get one life and then that's it and we rot in the ground and nothing we do really matters that much in the longest timeline, BUT that doesn't mean we should ruin other people's lives as much as possible (unless they've done something to deserve it to some degree). It's a very convoluted version of the Golden Rule effectively, but it works for me!

Adam Buckley

Good morning from Pennsylvania, Buckley! Is there a particular philosophy, or ethical code you follow or are inspired by in life?

Tatanka Serrano

The opening ceremony song performed by Gojira, does that count? They should have just let them do an hour set. Outside of that, I really don't spend a lot of time listening to music for enjoyment. I heard Max Cavallera (mighta spelled that wrong) re-recorded Sepultura's first two albums and I've been meaning to get around to listen to those.

Adam Buckley

I think they're a fun spin on the Venom idea (people have said they're basically a one man Buddy Comedy), they're not remotely comic accurate and I don't know if Tom Hardy is who I'd pick for Eddie Brock (actually I think Chris Evans, channeling his character in Scott Pilgrim, would have been a great Eddie, but obviously he already has a character), but they're ok comic movies that don't take themselves too seriously.

Adam Buckley

Is there a particular song you've really enjoyed listening to recently? We know what you've enjoyed dissecting on the autopsy table, of course, but I'm wondering if there's anything that stood out to you in a good way.

Jonathan Carter

What do you think of the Sony Venom movies?

Slideways77

Not really, I haven't in about 4 years at this point I don't think. Everyone tells me that I have a pretty sizeable audience in upstate New York, maybe I need to go there.

Adam Buckley

If you mean like you'd like to submit a question of yours? You can just private message me here on Patreon.

Adam Buckley

Do you visit the states often?

Matthew Barnett

Where do people submit entries for your advice no one asked for?

Chris DelGado

I think either very east (the Maritimes where it's cheaper) or very west (Vancouver/Victoria where it doesn't get as cold in the Winter for whatever reason)

Adam Buckley

If you had to live in any other part of Canada, where would be your first choice?

Isaac Hotchkiss

Which instruments have you tried?

Alicia Samantha

Drake's definitely on there or will be on there. I can see it now

King Kryptonite

I've definitely got a working list so far, including the probable #1. There's been some pretty terrible stuff this year that's for sure.

Adam Buckley

If it's a choice? I suppose the mind. You can wheel a busted up body around, in the future they may even be able to fix it. A deteriorated mind is just gone, and nothing you can do about it, and it's always kinda sad to see people with that decline, and what it puts their family through.

Adam Buckley

Probably nothing overly surprising, Jerry was a Race Car Driver, Southbound Pachyderm, Professor Nutbutter's House of Treats, DMV, Bob, Lee Van Cleef, Wynonna's Big Brown Beaver of course...

Adam Buckley

The name is based on a cough syrup that has the same name as me, that has a slogan people would say at me when I was a kid "huh huh he tastes bad but he works" (makes no sense and is kinda weird but ah well), and I decided to start the channel when I was kinda just encouraged by others who said "you should do like some sort of those You Tube Videos or whatever" whenever I'd go on some sort of rant (maybe they meant because they wanted me to do it somewhere else)

Adam Buckley

Not really, and sort of? Like it'd be cool to learn how to properly sing, but I've tried to learn instruments and I think I'm just bad at learning music in general.

Adam Buckley

Can you sing? Would you like to sing?

Alicia Samantha

What was your inspiration to start a dose of Buckley and how did you come up with the name?

Zachary Malloy

What are some of your favorite Primus songs?

nee gur

In your twilight years, would you prefer to have a sharp mind or a fit body?

laurengoesto11 .

I see. Thanks for the reply, MF BUCKLEY.

Juan Guzman

How is the list of the Worst Songs of 2024 coming along? Has it been easy or difficult to find the shitty songs this year?

King Kryptonite

Honestly, this is a pretty reasonable view of it. The quality decline of certain products, in my eyes, is a lot more a longer term thing. It really started, at the latest, in the 1990s. As well, I think survivorship bias also plays a large factor: you only see the 25 year old electronics (for example) that survived. Most of it was still cheaply made trash, just like today.

Northwood

chinese place in my town does a peanut butter fried chicken thats really good

Bryson Witsell

Yeah. Rough last year or so for her. Her son died earlier this year too I believe. I know everyone hated her, but perhaps they'd be comforted to know that no matter who was in charge of YouTube, it was always going to be anti-Creator and pro-Music Labels/Studios.

Adam Buckley

Critically? Grandma's Boy and BASEketball. By regular people? Punch Drunk Love. A lot of people hate Punch Drunk Love. It's an incredible movie and those people are just wrong.

Adam Buckley

I've never watched a full episode of any Star Trek in my entire life. Is that the one with the hot robot played by Sonya Blade?

Adam Buckley

Yes. The prudes will be offended by their nudity.

Adam Buckley

Do you think robots will wear clothes?

Bryson Witsell

Ok, thanks for the inputs, I'll try out each option.

Luis Umana

What's the first thing you'd do in the DS9 holodeck? Oh no, wait-

Username User

Adding my 2 cents on this. Go up by number (so 0,K1,K2,3,4,5,6) and then decide if you want to play the Like a Dragon games (7,8). If you don’t want to play the LAD games since they’re turn based, play Gaiden, which is technically a spin off but ends Kiryu’s story a bit better imo. If you do decide to play the LAD games, play Gaiden after 7.

Rusty

What is a piece of music, game, or movie that you like that's widely considered to be disliked?

AppleBear42

That makes sense. I guess I just feeling a little nostalgic.

Taylor Wood

Did you hear that Susan Wojcicki died of cancer recently?

HeyAlexa!

The worst song I've ever heard is a song I don't think I'll ever share with anyone, because I found out the guy who performed it might be mildly autistic (but like... in that way where EVERYONE is these days). But it's a real piece of shit. I don't know, maybe some day. It was sent to me by the guy when I worked for the company that provided music services, and it's a song about a guy who's in love with a girl and is basically stalking her and calling her untrustworthy, despite the fact that they're not even dating nor have they ever been. It's super incel energy, AND from a technical standpoint the song fuckin' sucks too, like it has no proper progression... it goes like "Chorus -> Verse -> Verse -> Chorus-> Bridge -> Verse -> Chorus ->Chorus ->Chorus" or something like that, it's such a nightmare.

Adam Buckley

I'm gonna come up with a doozy for you for next week. 🤣

TheWebMachine

I think at some point you have to accept that it's inevitable, and in some ways, no different than other forms of loss. Like, in Elementary and High School, I had plenty of friends who just eventually moved away and I've never seen again. Maybe social media makes it so fewer people lose touch now, but I have so much experience with "losing people", it feels kinda like "just a thing that happens". With the exception of close family or pets of course, but even then, you have to accept it's alright to be sad for a time, but then you got your own life to live. And as for your OWN death? I don't know, I actually was talking to my girlfriend about this the other day, I half-joked "I've accomplished everything I want, and I can never truly die anyway, I'll exist on the Internet forever". I get that not everyone has that feeling, and maybe that's part of it. Start by accomplishing the things you feel you'd like to accomplish in life, so that you don't have as much unfinished business or regrets when the reaper comes for you.

Adam Buckley

Game Pass I think has them all, it's not as cheap as it used to be sadly but either way... I'd honestly just start with Yakuza Kiwami (it's a remake of the very first one, but updated gameplay engine), then Yakuza Kiwami 2, then MAYBE Yakuza 0, then the rest in order (3, 4, 5, 6, Like a Dragon, Gaiden, Infinite Wealth). If you're a huge JRPG fan and you hate action games, then you could just play Like a Dragon. You won't be as excited about some of the cameos, BUT Like a Dragon is a very good JRPG. if you HATE JRPGs and prefer action games... just stop at 6.

Adam Buckley

If only you had some way to ask me questions once a month!

Adam Buckley

Definitely not as a main channel video. As a Patreon exclusive, MAYBE, but I think the problem with Jason is that it was a parody of something that doesn't REALLY exist anymore. Even the shittiest new YouTubers don't make those "completely unedited videos where they stutter and stammer all the way through it" anymore, they all try to emulate MrBeast, OR those types of people all moved to streaming where they can spend 6 hours rambling while they play video games, and editing/scripting isn't important to them.

Adam Buckley

Which color did you want (if it mattered to you) blue, red,or purple?

Jose Vazquez

I think at this point , especially with that meme channel of that fat guy who used to sing Smash Mouth to the tune of like 50 other songs, that there's not much original to say about that. Making fun of the Goo Goo Dolls might be fun... but I don't know if I'll ever go backwards again, after the last "retro" or "throwback" video did so poorly. I don't think there's an audience for it now.

Adam Buckley

Rihanna's "Work". I think she is truly proud of that, I think everyone involved feels they worked hard on it. It's dogshit.

Adam Buckley

Yeah, I never got Legends of the Hidden Temple as a kid and it seems way too complex. We did get Guts though, I always wanted to be on it as a kid.

Adam Buckley

I kinda don't. Think of her that is. I don't know, at this point I really don't think it matters. I know a lot of people do, I know on Twitter the sky is falling and both sides believe America will literally end with this election if their side doesn't win. I think everyone will wake up on November 8th and their family and friends will still be there and the mail will get delivered and their jobs will still exist and life will pretty much be the exact same either way.

Adam Buckley

The moment I hit pure rock bottom.

Adam Buckley

Maybe... they've teased it a few times and then just... didn't. I don't know, I'm also I think one of those weird geeks in the minority who doesn't care, like I actually DON'T want to see Peter and MJ together. I kinda have a dislike of comic fans who just want Peter to be what he was in 1987 and to NEVER change. Their wedding was 37 years ago, and everyone wants Peter to be married to MJ and have a kid or two and maybe still a crappy job where he struggles? Super hot take, I actually LIKED the idea that, even though it was Doc Ock's doing, he had a successful company. He's a genius just slightly below the levels of Tony and Reed, and he's ALWAYS broke and has to resort to being a fucking substitute teacher or taking photos or producing a podcast for Jameson or some nonsense?

Adam Buckley

I watched some of it, I've got a video coming out next Saturday actually (a recap similar to the one I did in 2021). Overall I think there were a lot of funny moments, that's for sure! And I really enjoyed the 3x3 Basketball.

Adam Buckley

Counter question, do you think Brian Wilson just wanted to die quicker?

Adam Buckley

I say "sorry" when I'm mildly in the way of someone else even when it's probably their fault, like, say, at a grocery store or something.

Adam Buckley

I feel like I've kinda talked about it in videos before, maybe? I don't know. But the general idea is that I don't think it's as real in some ways as some others think. I think nostalgia makes us think things were WAY better than they actually were, and that if there is any sort of decay or "enshittification", it's far more gradual. IN SOME REGARDS, anyway. I also think, for example, that TV is maybe the best it's ever been in the last few years, same with video games to some degree, but you get people who truly believe the N64 and Playstation 1 had the greatest games ever, and you think "shit, maybe the glue they're huffing is what's actually gotten worse".

Adam Buckley

I know it's easy to say "I just don't care what other people think", and it's also maybe not entirely true, but you really just have to start with a mix of "I'm making this for myself and don't really give a fuck what anyone else thinks" and a little bit of an ego of "but they are going to love it because I'm so fucking good". In radio, we were kinda taught that any reaction is a good reaction, the WORST reaction is no reaction. If they love you or they hate you, both are fine. They paid attention to you. If they just yawn and click away, THAT is the worst. I ignore negative feedback by simply knowing that they're wrong, haha.

Adam Buckley

I mean definitely Japan. If I were so rich I never had to work again, I'd just go live there, spend every day watching boxing/wrestling/baseball/something to that effect, and then get drunk with Japanese salarymen at Karaoke bars. Pass out in a capsule hotel and get back at it the next day.

Adam Buckley

Over hard. Some people don't know what that is apparently, so... solid yolk. OR scrambled actually, I actually make pretty good scrambled eggs, some shredded cheese in there, just the right amount of milk to fluff 'em up, salt, pepper, some garlic powder for the fuck of it, I learned from watching Gordon Ramsay to take it off the heat in those final moments to stop them from getting overcooked/not fluffy enough.

Adam Buckley

Maybe Texas? If that's not really counted as "the south", I don't know, maybe Georgia. A lot of film/animation stuff there, maybe I could finally make a real go at becoming a voiceover actor or something.

Adam Buckley

Pretty rare lately, I don't think I've been to Michigan since maybe just before the pandemic? Whenever I filmed the "Buckley Throws Sharp Shit" video.

Adam Buckley

I think Gucci Gucci would probably top my "worst of the worst" list, like if I were to take all the #1 Worst Songs of my 2010 - 2019 videos, and then rank them? It's the most annoying.

Adam Buckley

A live-in maid. But outside of that... you know what? I think there's a lot I could honestly live without, but I will NEVER live without a dishwasher again. There's no FUCKING way I'm spending 30 minutes a day washing and drying dishes. Piss on that.

Adam Buckley

Real hard to say. I don't know if I'm ever gonna do another throwback video again, the last one did HORRENDOUSLY views-wise, even from my Patreon subscribers. Kinda sent a message that people don't want to see those anymore.

Adam Buckley

Pity

Ben Jackson

I don't really watch any anime, like I'd say I've watched maybe 4 series (partially or in full) in my life, and maybe a couple movies? Specifically JAPANESE movies or shows (or shows about Japan) I'd recommend? Tokyo Vice (it's 2 seasons and has a perfect beginning, middle and ending), Battle Royale obviously, Hajime No Ippo (although the Manga isn't over so if you want a complete story, too bad, I don't think the author will ever finish it before he dies), I really liked Shogun, Blade of the Immortal (the live action one by Takashi Miike), Audition (also Miike), Yakuza Apocalypse (ALSO Miike, and it's real wacky, I don't know if it was GOOD, but it was fun), and I think I'd recommend people watch like ONE Kurosawa movie just to decide for themselves if they like him, I'd go with Yojimbo just because it's what Sergio Leone remade as "A Fistful of Dollars".

Adam Buckley

I can't remember how I answered this question last time, so... let's say BASEketball this time. I watch that movie like twice a year.

Adam Buckley

I have no idea to be honest. Someone once told me I was replying to Nick DeOreo and I was like "I am? Who is he?", he followed me well before I ever followed him. Turkey Tom included a clip of me in one of his videos once and I didn't know who he was either. I still kinda don't, like I've never watched any of their videos. But the Twitter algorithm now feeds them to me so I interact whenever I see something interesting to talk about. This may be VERY arrogant of me, but I think I've reached the status of "your favorite YouTuber's favorite YouTuber", like I'm a guy other more well-known (or more infamous?) people watch.

Adam Buckley

No, probably not. I don't think I'll do a lot of "backwards" stuff, aside from MAYBE another Retro video but even then, hard to say, that last Retro video might have literally been the worst performing video I've ever put out since becoming "YouTube famous".

Adam Buckley

I've played games with people in the One-on-One tier, but I'm really not a FPS guy so it would likely be a pretty wasted effort. Like being 14 and playing a sports game with your Dad (unless your Dad is good at sports games I guess).

Adam Buckley

Not really "planning", no. In fact this week's Musical Autopsy could have possibly been a make-or-break on the whole series, but it ended up doing ok (by my current standards). Not really a "no", but I think it would have to be a song that's become relevant again for some reason.

Adam Buckley

Sounds great if the dish is... peanuts or a peanut butter sandwich. Sounds horrible if the dish is... Steak and Green Beans.

Adam Buckley

Are you planning on doing more musical autopsies cold case?

Hannah Francisco

What tier do I gotta get for you to play some cs2 with me?

Greg Nelson

That would be nice.

Ben Jackson

Ever since you covered Sean King’s legal troubles, you mentioned him along with other people who’s music you haven’t riffed. Have you thought about doing Musical Autopsies on them in the future now?

Ben Jackson

What led to you becoming more "entrenched" with YouTubers? I feel like 8 years ago you wouldn't know, let alone interact, with commentary creators like Nicholas Ate a Million Oreos or Türkiye Tom.

Juan Guzman

What is your favorite movie of all time?

Mesayla

what's your opinion on including peanuts in a main dish?

I know you briefly talked about certain japanese nerdy type topics such as yakuza. I'm curious what Are some shows and movies (irl or anime) you would recommend to others. Not. Necessarily your favorites , but ones you think People might enjoy With different levels of interest into japanese culture

DeMoni Cade

I saw you replying to Jomboy's Guts videos do you prefer Guts over Legends of the hidden temple?

Jose Vazquez

I know that in the Sean Kingston video you said that he just missed your dissection table along with other popular artist of the time. Have you considered maybe doing a worst songs of list of early 2000’s pop song just to kinda shit on people’s nostalgia of the goo goo dolls and smash mouth?

kev cajoux

Will you ever make a Jason's J'opinions video again?
