Bonus #228 - WWE: Too Sexy For Saudis (Extra Dose)

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/zoWAPCm0o8U

Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day, and as we just wrapped up the Memorial Day weekend and are heading toward the Independence Day weekend ("calm down Buckley it's like a month away!") I thought you might enjoy another video that reminds you of just how free the US is (as well as many other places in the world for that matter). Like, did you know there are countries where you CAN'T watch women with very little clothes wrestle each other? THAT'S NOT A PLACE I WANT TO LIVE! Anyway, enjoy!

If you listen to certain people on the Internet, you might think that, as a North American citizen, you have no real freedom. Buckley reminds you that, in some countries, women were just legally given the "right" to drive, BUT not the right to wrestle in the same clothes they do here in America! Let's see what's going on in Saudi Arabia!

No it's much more sinister than that. Especially since MBS ordered the death of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Saudi Arabia has been "sport washing" their image to reclaim legitimacy on the world stage. They started a golf league and attempted to buy Tiger Woods with a billion dollar contract, they tried buying the soccer player Mbappa with a billion dollar offer, and apparently they've done similar with WWE. This is exclusively motivated by the royal family's desire to be seen as more than a pariah state with nothing but oil to offer the world... And as soon as their attempts at sports washing their image interferes with oppressing the common Saudi citizen, they choose oppression. There's also an incestuous relationship between Saudi royals, McMahon, and certain elected politicians of a particular political party.

The Saudi deal is interesting. I remember in 2018 when they first started, women weren't even allowed on the shows. The first few Saudi shows they did, there were no womens matches. I don't even think the female commentator at the time could be at the shows until like a year in. It was also very ironic that they announced an all women's show like a month before a Saudi show when women still couldn't wrestle on the Saudi shows. Like "Yay women! (But only in the US)

You gotta admit, WWE even being in Saudi Arabia is a massive step forward… imagine women even existing in WWE in Afghanistan 😂
