EARLY ACCESS: Reviewing a FEMINIST Joke Book

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/7iIZNFkhwvk

Hey everyone, it's Early Access Day and this week's video feels like a real throwback type of video, where I've come across something somewhat obscure on the Internet and wanted to share my thoughts about it with you. It's also a little reminder that your ol' pal Buckley is, and has always been, an equal opportunity offender, and I think it's only fair that after we spent last week making fun of Baby Benny's Republican Rap, we look at some... Democratic Drollness? Let's go with that. Enjoy!

I don't know if you can believe this, but... on the Internet, you'll find a few people who don't think women can be funny! What!? Buckley, a lover of many forms of comedy and numerous female comedians, recently came across a book titled "Jokes to Offend Men", written by 4 female comedy writers, and decided to review it in the same way he likes to review music: harshly.

EARLY ACCESS: Reviewing a FEMINIST Joke Book

Comments

Yeah, I see a book called "Jokes to Offend Men", I want to be OFFENDED! Really destroy me! I don't know if anything has ever "truly" offended me (of course not, I'm a privileged straight white man, what could possibly upset me?!) so I'm always excited at the potential of it happening.

I actually wanted to find something in this funny, despite being a bloke, because I love roast humour. They just aren’t, though. They’re too direct; there’s no real play on words or “twist” to deliver the punchline, they just feel like rants or direct answers to questions rather than a joke for the person to figure out. Come on, if you’re gonna be offensive and roast, at least go in hard, with some effort, and make it clever!

Amy Schumer would have just stolen all of their jokes and then printed her own book.

Adam Buckley

The book could have included some jokes about fat guys! Maybe make fun of some of the tropes we see, where fat guys on TV are always fun and jolly and they always make fat women angry.

Adam Buckley

Not your best Buckley, but I agree those jokes sucked. You didn't do it today - though I was ready to hear yet another fat joke. Another theme that's not funny. But me assuming that b/c it was about women means you're going to whip out the fat jokes is rude. Then again, as an American I guess rude is a built in feature.

I'm surprised Amy Schumer wasn't involved with this project, I guess they didn't want to take a risk of losing book sales.
