EARLY ACCESS: Why's Everyone Quitting YouTube?

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/cGDk-cK1rm4

Hey everyone, it's Early Access Day, and I hope you'll find this video equal parts interesting and funny, as the idea of "quitting YouTube", taking a break or a hiatus or wanting to switch things up, is a topic I obviously have some hands-on experience with, and over the last few weeks we saw quite a bit of that happening with people far more famous (and who make a lot more money doing this) than me, including guys like MatPat from Game Theory, MeatCanyon, Tom Scott, Joel Haver, and others. Oh, also, for the "Buckley's gone soft, he doesn't have the same edge that he did 10 years ago" crowd? All I can say is... enjoy the ending to this one.

In about a 30 day period, 6 high-profile (over 1 million subscriptions) YouTubers decided to either quit, take a break, or alter their upload schedule to try and make their lives easier. As someone who took a hiatus a few years back, Buckley provides some insight as to why this might be happening, and why we'll likely see more of this in the future. Plus: one of the darkest end-jokes in Dose History!

Oh no does this mean the end of the game theory gag?

YouTubers are interesting because with the TV show example at least they have an entire team. I do social media for a major company, and running an Instagram page takes the input of like 5 people. Lots of YouTube pages are just Some Guy who films, edits, and promotes all of his own content. YouTube can be high reward with monetization, but compared to the work put in, it’s questionable if it’s even worth it.
