Fun Wikipedia fact: Grimes took the name "Grimes" because apparently when she set up her MySpace page, it asked her to list her 3 favorite music genres, and because she thought it looked funny, she chose "grime" for all 3, despite not knowing what it was. Grimes has become absolutely obsessed with Artificial Intelligence, and will talk about it at pretty much every opportunity. Most recently, she tried to convince "communists" that it would actually be beneficial to them, AND detailed the use of A.I. in the plot for her next "concept album" (because of course Grimes can't just make a regular album). But is this possibly a cry for help? Buckley looks at how Grimes might be actually detailing her escape from Elon...

2021-08-11 04:21:37 +0000 UTCYeah I don't think she knows. Just "A.I. would do the farming!" with no real thoughts or plans after that. She's from Vancouver, her parents are both very white-collar, and then she lived in California, and now presumably Austin, Texas? So I assume she's maybe driven by a farm once or twice, but I can't imagine she would have any idea what goes into working on one. But I also don't know why, in her idea of communism, everyone's forced to farm? Like does she think the Soviets all worked on farms and that was the only available job? It was "farmer" or "government worker who tells regular people to go work on the farms"? Now obviously the Soviet system was highly HIGHLY flawed, but that brings us to her only point that could have made sense and should have been more elaborated on... the biggest hurdle to communism working isn't "if the tractors run on their own", it's the massive corruption that comes with allowing a small handful of humans or just one human to be in charge.

If you have the money you can already buy combines and seeders with satellite gps programability, where you just have to sit there while it works. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have to preform maintenance, haul product, work fields etc..

All that will really happen is people like her (rich elitist) will get even wealthier and continue to make sure everyone else is caught up in fabricated problems created by misleading statistics while they rocket to mars and probably nuke Earth from orbit because they don't need us peasant scum anymore.

2021-07-25 03:27:41 +0000 UTCYeah there is going to come a time where the world is going to have to either intentionally handcuff innovation, OR force the rich to pay for the poor. If there are no jobs because computers and machines can basically do everything, and the only jobs left are very high level programming (and of course the owners of those companies) someone's going to have to figure out what to do with, say, 150 million people who don't have jobs in the USA. You either let them starve (and see what happens when they riot) or keep them placated with some level of quality of life.

The people who own and contract out the robots and AI would be rolling in dough, and the people it replaces would be jobless. One of the biggest issues that my economics professor brought up about the new wave of automation is that unlike previous leaps in automation, AI may not actually bring about more jobs than it removes.

I can't really do his accent (as if that's ever stopped me from trying, see: every time I do a British or Aussie accent) but the sort of "bored, sounds like he's reading every word that comes out of his mouth" voice for him I think works as a caricature.
