Well, good news: Poppy, a pop singer who kinda ripped off BabyMetal's gimmick of "pop lyrics over heavy metal instrumentals" did NOT win the Grammy for Best Metal Performance this year (Body Count won, in case you were wondering). The bad news: 1989 still happened, and Metallica still lost to Jethro Tull for effectively the same Grammy. Can Metallica ever get a break? You know, besides the millions of dollars they have? Well, in this week's bonus video, we find out that 2021 isn't being any kinder to them than 1989 was. Enjoy!
Metallica became the laughingstock of Twitch when their own concert had the audio replaced by Twitch's bots that detect copyrighted music. Of course, this is funny because of how well-known Metallica is for their copyright battle with Napster over 20 years ago. BUT, while we're laughing at Metallica, are we missing the big picture when it comes to streaming music online?

here ist the real kicker for this story: the metallica portion on the blizzard twitch channel was actually fine (no replaced music) twitch only replaced the music on theire own "twitch gaming" channel to avoid strikes / dcma takedown notices while streaming copyrighted music isn't actually allowed on twitch, it's kinda tolerated ... and most of the times there are no consequences during a live stream so why did they replace the music? because many channels got taken down due to archived VODs which included copyrighted music twitch being twitch just ignored the shitty situation and opted-out for the easy solution and replaced the music (to my knowlage twitch don't even have a bot... so an actual human did this) and yes the blizzard twitch channel could get a take down notice because of the VOD with metallica twitch (amazon) could fix it for everyone but currently it's that ridiculous kind of ridiculous
