EARLY ACCESS: Morgan Wallen Conquers Cancel Culture

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/b9Dsm0RhPKc

Before we get to this weekend's video, thought I'd give you a fun (fun?) fact: It was a year ago this weekend that I released the "Coronavirus Comedy", where I showed a slide that said we had just under 4000 deaths worldwide up to that point. One year later, and... well, you know the stats. But, the vaccine's out there now, the US is doing a pretty solid job with it while Canada lags way behind, and we finally have a true light at the end of the tunnel. SO, let's make fun of the latest thing that doesn't seem to stop spreading: cancel culture (or, people who think everything is "cancel culture"). Here's the description for this week's video:

Country Music sensation Morgan Wallen got in trouble recently for yelling a racial slur in his neighborhood at 3am while his weird neighbor filmed him from across the street, causing some on the Internet to sound the "cancel culture" alarm. BUT, can "cancel culture" actually end up making someone richer?! Buckley looks at the unprecedented result of Morgan Wallen's album sales after his late night video went viral. PLUS: "cancel culture" throughout history, and a bonus rant about Gina Carano's firing from the Mandalorian, and how celebrities need to learn from every other celebrity's mistakes.

Hey Brent. I REALLY don't think I was truly "adding" context that she hadn't already added herself, and I think my work shows I've made fun of both sides, but it's not about being a "Republican wrong-thinker", I have no problem with rational, normal Republicans. But when you spend months posting a bunch of conspiracy stuff that has mostly been parroted by "right-wing" people, like all of her anti-mask, anti-vax, anti-mail in voting stuff, AND THEN she posts a thing saying "people are being made to hate others for their political views, just like what happened in Germany before it ever got as far as it got", you have to view everything in that context. If someone posted a comment like that as a sign of "unity" and it was someone who was very clearly centrist, it wouldn't be quite as bad (although I think comparing ANYONE to what went down in Germany is dumb). People like to keep saying Pedro Pascal did it and got away with it, you'll note that his posts are also deleted, and I guarantee Disney had a word with him about it. As for "being right of Bernie", as I joked about in a slide, Chris Pratt is almost definitely right or center-right, but instead of posting weird anti-vax memes or things like that, he just posts pictures of himself visiting sick kids or stuff from movie sets, and when anyone mentions his affiliation with the megachurch he goes "I'm my own person, no one speaks for me and other people's views aren't mine, I have respect for everyone, thanks and have a great day" and he'll have a job forever.

Ah, Buckley puts words into Gina Carano's tweets just like the rest of the twitter mob. It's really sad. everyone just wants so bad to label her as a republican wrong-thinker, even Buckley :( Taking a job with Ben Shapiro I suppose didn't help that, and we all know it's illegal to be right of Bernie Sanders in Hollywood and remain on the payroll.

I've really enjoyed Morgan's music. He honestly brought me back to country. But as a person it's hard for me to support him. Say what you want, but even if he was on a bender, with that loose of lips saying the N-word, you know it's part of his vocabulary. Still the apology will do him so good (even if he means it or not) in bringing him back into good graces. I'm blown away though how he beat so many artists (established ones at that). Talk about blindly loyal fans.

Love Morgan Wallen’s music - but damn, as a person he is one dumb, dumb bloke

Mullets are really making a comeback apparently. Maybe they can do a sequel to Joe Dirt where all of the sudden he's super popular and he doesn't get why.

I'm from a small town in Arkansas (a shame, I know) and ever since this dude went viral for saying the N word everyone around me is worshipping him. All the boys at my sister's junior high have mullets now. You hit the nail on the head with the racist fan bit at the end.

Thank you papa Buckley
