Bonus #51 - Alex Trebek Wasn't Perfect Either (Extra Dose)

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/PbkJzv_SG4E

Hello everyone, and welcome to the first bonus video of 2021! And for my first one, I thought "people say I'm losing my edge, so... why not slander a beloved dead man?" Of course, I have nothing but respect for Alex Trebek, so keep that in mind as you watch this video. Being able to see the flaws in those we consider great reminds us that they're human as well. Anyway, here's the video description:

Ken Jennings will be hosting an (as yet) undetermined number of episodes of Jeopardy as the producers attempt to find a replacement for Alex Trebek, who recently passed away. But as old tweets come back to haunt him and new events that he's remotely involved in look to ruin his chances of getting the gig permanently, it's worth reminding everyone that nobody's perfect... not even "America's Canadian Dad", the legendary Alex Trebek himself.

Funny how the #metoo movement ended right about the time they started discussing MEN AND CHILDREN who were abused by men in power. I guess they're not important enough to discuss.

Ken Jennings mom was my elementary school librarian. He even came to talk at a school assembly once. Kinda cool just thought I’d share.

I guess you could say that Ken’s career is... IN JEOPARDY! *BA DUM TISH*

Art Fleming preceeded Alex, that's how long I have been watching. (Weird Al too, see "I Lost on Jeopardy"). I like Lavar Burton for host too. This dad cred comes out of Reading Rainbow.

It's one of those things I'm sure I've talked about over the years a million times, kinda falls under celebrity worship, and also a fairly North American concept of "this person IS that person". In an American movie, recasting a character is seen as some sort of high treason, like the idea that "Robert Downey Jr IS Iron Man", instead of thinking of Iron Man as a character and the actor could be anyone. With Trebek, he hosted the show for over 30 years, so I can see why people might feel attached, but there was another host before him, and the show must go on. Though he was a part of the show's success, the success of the show really is in tuning in every day to watch people win money, and to play along at home. Another charismatic individual with good public speaking skills who doesn't make themselves the centerpiece of the show should be able to do very well.

Completely off topic but every time I hear Alex Trebeks name, I think of that Tourette’s Guy video where he says something about Trebek, a giraffe and an earthquake

It's good to see people investing so much time into earth shattering outcomes, such as who a new host will be. It makes the world a better place.

Ah yes, teenage boys are well known for their positions of power...

Joanna Lind

Who's saying that? Your edge is still there, and it's still entertaining!
