Bonus #42 - Recycling: Mostly a Waste

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/jKrjr6pSx6k

It's Tuesday, and for our American friends it's election night! And while I can't distract you for the entire thing, perhaps this video will take your mind off the madness for 5 minutes. Enjoy this super-classic style Dose, this definitely feels like something I would have done 8 years ago. Here's the video description:

Recycling. We all just kinda do it because they say it helps the planet. You sort your plastics and glass from your paper and cardboard, haul out like 3 different boxes to the curb... but how much of that just ends up in the same place anyway? Buckley looks at wasted effort when it comes to all that waste.

I do remember watching this one when I subbed to your patreon 4 years ago and I actually still think about it whenever I take out the recycling at work lmao.

I agree with the bidet. I've shot so much water up my butt, that toilet paper is now barbaric.

I'm still gonna recycle, I want to be better than my country is about it, I don't want that 8% to turn to 5%. And about the reusable toilet paper, just use a damn bidet.

I know I am late to this post but I just started being a patron yesterday...so far best $5 bucks I've spent in a while. Seen the slide that referred to "Stone Soup" and I think I know where that name comes from. It is a short script play for kids. It's actually a fairly decent little play. I tried to write what it was about but i sounded like an idiot so i deleted all that and you can find it if you really want to :D

Australia is also bad at recycling - 2017-2018 we managed to recycle only 9.4% of the 3.4 millions tonnes of plastics we used. And more than half of the amount that was recycled was actually sent overseas to be done. Really makes the idea of “doing our bit” seem so pointless.

Yeah, companies definitely fooled us all starting with Coca Cola and the "Crying Indian" commercial campaign. This is a good video and I appreciate it. Facts are facts and a lot of our work goes to waste. It should be better, but isn't.

I guess I didn't really touch on that, but yeah the amount of personal responsibility that gets put on us as individuals for pollution is pretty ridiculous all things considered. I think of it like... cleaning up the files on your phone. I don't delete a bunch of small pictures and screenshots, I delete the large videos (or move them to my computer), they take up the most noticeable amount of space. Then I clean up the smaller stuff over time. With environmental policies, it's kinda like they want to sit there and delete small text files instead of uninstall the game that takes up 10gb.

Adam Buckley

Most pollution is done by large corporations, which need to be regulated to stop the pollution. Kurgzgesagt has some great videos on climate change and one of the big things we can do is help nations with growing economies modernize their abilities to reduce waste and pollution.

Well that was depressing and sombering. I guess frim business standpoint though it makes sense because it's too hard. Let's just go back to using paper and glass, as well as utilize hemp, as it grows faster, doesn't kill trees problem solved.
