On that note though, I will say that I have bipolar and in my manic episodes I went along with abhorrent beliefs because the people around me were saying them and I felt like these people were older than me so they must be right, then when I tried to speak up I was being called stupid and immature. Sure I would not have EVER said slaves were at fault for their predicament, but I was friends with someone who made every single thing about race (she was white) and even suggested that protestors should be sprayed with a hose like they do in communist China. At some point I woke up, but it was because Donald Trump started shit talking people who are mentally ill and commit crimes (don't tell Buckley, he might become a Trump fan LOL)/ He is Bipolar and he needs to go to a hospital, have his phone smashed and listen to CNN until he has broken the cycle of being wrapped up in partisan propaganda and can, with the help of medication, actually create his own thoughts again. That is what it took for me

I live with BiPolar disorder and it really frustrates me that people like Kanye are out there giving this condition a bad name. I've been through the darkness, and my own personal hell and back to get to a place where I am as close to 'normal' as I'll ever be. It's taken years of therapy, medication, changes in habit and a tonne of hard work. I totally get that it's not easy, in fact, it's so much easier to slip off the old wagon and fall back into the spiral. But not even in my darkest moments would I have EVER made such heinous statements about slavery or other issues like that. That is NOT Bipolar disorder or any other mental illness talking, that is the rantings of a total asshole. Yes, he is mentally ill (I see the signs clear as daylight) and YES, he needs help. But he is 100% responsible for what he says and does in a public forum. And he is 100% responsible for not getting treatment and for not striving to be a better person in spite of the setbacks of mental illness.

I've seen people off their medication though. They don't have the worst takes on everything. They're mostly just either really sad and don't want to leave the house, or they're really excitable and just want to do everything. Being bipolar didn't make him think "slaves chose to be that way", he had those thoughts and MAYBE being bipolar made him express those thoughts, but they're his thoughts.

It doesn’t excuse his behavior but as somebody with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder I don’t think he just has bipolar disorder. A lot of people schizoaffective start as just schizophrenic or just bipolar. Somebody needs to get this man help because very rarely does this type of situation end in the person waking up one day realizing they were completely out of their mind. He is still a huge asshole but Goddamn he needs serious mental help and a lot of medication
