Let's Talk Tiers (Or Lack Thereof)
Added 2020-03-03 17:19:10 +0000 UTCSo the first full month of this Patreon experiment is over, and it's definitely had its ups and downs, but I have to say it's mostly ups. In one month I didn't expect the level of support you've given me. The "down" would be that after the first month there was a little bit of a dropoff (I was over the goal of "I could do this full time at this level" to about 97% to goal, which isn't a huge problem and hopefully we'll see some of those people come back, or some new people fill their spots).
ANYWAY, I wanted to give my thoughts on tiers, as well as bonuses. I really value your feedback on this, because if everyone just says "Man, I honestly don't even care, just make videos and I'll watch them and I'll support that", But I at least want to give options. My thoughts were (based on other things I've seen, as well as what many of you have already pledged)
$1 - This is sort of a "thank you" tier. You might get something special every now and then (an early access, or an older bonus piece of content), but for the most part you have my appreciation that you're willing to help in a small way.
$2 - Similar to the $1 tier, I'll just throw a few more extras your way.
$5 - You get all the early access stuff and all of the bonus stuff, plus I'm finally going to get the Discord integration going, and spend some time with you guys on there, either just privately (I'll log on to Discord and we'll chat like it's iRC in 1996) or as part of a live broadcast. I'll also choose some names at random every once in a while to appear at the beginning of the video on the "Patreon promotion" part (none of this "end of the video" shit!)
$10 - Everything from the $5 tier, plus once I get merch going (some of you may have seen the new Musical Autopsy scalpel note shirt I was wearing in a photo the other day) you'll get discount codes so you can have it at cost (so whatever TeeSpring charges me for a shirt? That's what you'll pay). Also, once a month, you'll get listed in the "most generous supporters" section at the beginning of a video (as you saw with the Nicki Minaj autopsy).
On top of this, I'm trying to figure out a way to do contests that don't break any rules (I know other Patreon accounts do it, but you're not supposed to make random chance contests where someone has to pay more to get in them) but are fair.
So, this is where I want your feedback. Does this sound good? Horrible? Would you be like "oh, fuck this I'm out if you do it this way" or are you like "Eh, I don't even care about tiers and bonus stuff, just put out your videos and I'll watch them and support you". And when I do bonus content, do you guys want it to be exclusive anyway? I've heard some people say "just upload it on YouTube, that's where I watch you", I have yet to hear anyone go "yes, I'm so glad I get that for myself (and honestly there haven't been many views/listens for the ones I've done so far). But I want your honest feedback. If you're like "fuck yeah I'm here for the bonus stuff!" then I want to know. If you aren't, I want to know that too.
Thanks for a very successful first month, can't wait to do more.

I like your content in general, I'm that you're making content again! The bonus content is cool, it's interesting to see you try out some new ideas, it doesn't matter to me if it's exclusive content or not. Mostly I'm here to support you how I can, the extra content is a bonus for me but I'll still happily just watch whatever you make available on YouTube if you want to keep the higher tier stuff as Patrons only stuff.

2020-03-07 14:20:18 +0000 UTCJust bumped to the $5 tier. <3 Woohoo!

2020-03-06 19:20:38 +0000 UTCBonus content is great, but honestly as long as you keep putting out the content we all love, bonus stuff is just an additional perk. I'd continue paying $10 just for your regular content.

2020-03-05 17:07:48 +0000 UTCThe way around the “contest” is adding a skill texting question. This makes it a contest not a lottery. Also you need a way to enter with no purchase. Mail in entry is what most firms offer to get around this.
2020-03-05 16:51:55 +0000 UTCI'll do the $10. I consume media like crazy and usually end up rewatching your stuff so the more content the better.

2020-03-05 16:43:23 +0000 UTC"Eh, I don't even care about tiers and bonus stuff, just put out your videos and I'll watch them and support you". and also "just upload it on YouTube, that's where I watch you" ;)
2020-03-05 06:34:47 +0000 UTCThis idea sounds great to be honest. The merch for just 10 dollars sounds fantastic. Talking to us personally is awesome at five dollars. Really including us your highly regarded discussions is awesome enough, I think it's safe to say that we're doing this because we don't wanna see you get snuffed by YouTube's shitty algorithms. You deserve way more success. I'll be a ten dollar once you get this started. I guess I'll add something like, "Buckley's shower thought, or thought of the day, every day" even a minute of your words can make a difference, what are you thinking about? I'm here for the extra content, and to help everyone help push you. 🤟
2020-03-04 23:34:01 +0000 UTCTo be honest I'm currently at the $1 level level due to limited funds and would be happy with just the bonus content only available on Patreon, I don't really care about early access but would want to think the money was going towards something every month.

2020-03-04 22:34:04 +0000 UTCSounds great 👌🏻
2020-03-04 22:28:20 +0000 UTCI already do 10 bucks a month for you. But please don't do the contest. I know here in America paid entry contests are illegal and considered a lottery. I honestly love your shit and don't want to even come close to you getting banned.
2020-03-04 21:48:17 +0000 UTCI have upped my subscription to $5/month for exclusive content. I enjoy being able to watch it first before it’s filled with stupid comments lol I’m just happy you’re back!
2020-03-04 20:29:49 +0000 UTCThis is how I feel ☺
laurengoesto11 .
2020-03-04 19:59:27 +0000 UTCUpped my subscription to 10. Like others said, just glad you're back and making that quality content. The extras are nice, but if it helps let you do this full time, its money well spent. Thanks Buckley!
2020-03-04 17:17:41 +0000 UTCLol if anyone has ever known buckley long enough, they'll know that he's not exactly republican by any standards XD. Or even irl bc he's canadian

2020-03-04 17:09:08 +0000 UTCShit im already paying 5 lol i love the discord idea and would be happy to have incentive to jump to 10
2020-03-04 16:10:35 +0000 UTCSome of us can't really afford a lot, I'd say. Happy to support in a small way, but would still love to see all available content, if nothing else., regardless of tier. Other bonuses, such as names being displayed, discounts, etc, can go to those who contribute more.
Gary Leigh
2020-03-04 12:18:39 +0000 UTCDiscount merchandise sounds cool. I don't contribute for the bonus videos (however I do enjoy them) I mostly contribute because I like your videos
2020-03-04 12:05:25 +0000 UTCSo far I've really enjoyed the bonus content, so I wouldn't mind rounding up to $Five USD for that. (I'm currently a little under five, to make it a round number after taxes and currency conversion) Realistically, I probably wouldn't upgrade for discounted merch. I might buy some merch at some point if it's sufficiently cool, but it wouldn't really make sense to pay each month to maybe get a discount on some stuff. I'd probably be better off just buying it directly.
Pim
2020-03-04 11:41:01 +0000 UTCPersonally, I don't care for the bonus stuff. I really just enjoy your content and I don't think tiers are necessary.
2020-03-04 11:07:20 +0000 UTCi am happy to offer support without any bonus really. i am just happy you are back making stuff. i hope that the drop off you are talking about are just idiots like me who spent too much before the 1st and are paying a little late. t-shirts are nice, but how about something practical for the working folks, like buckley branded steel cap boots or hard hats? :D take car buckley, and thanks again
xave vaughan
2020-03-04 09:59:09 +0000 UTCI had not watched content outside of youtube, until this message. the standup bonus was worth the $5 by itself. I don't expect stuff like that or any bonus content for that matter but do appreciate it. tall options on shirts are nice but im a cheap ass and would only get one so no concessions please. glad you're back, you make my asshole tendencies seem normal. peace
2020-03-04 05:30:10 +0000 UTCI don’t want shit just the old Buckley back and I wouldn’t mind spending extra cash on shirts n shit to help you out
Josue guzman
2020-03-04 04:45:06 +0000 UTCI mostly watch your videos on YouTube and appreciate any content you put out. Tiers or not, I'll watch what I have access to and will give support because you've been one of my favorite creators for years.
2020-03-04 04:00:40 +0000 UTCBonuses and Tiers are okay. I wouldn't increase the amount of money I'm contributing. Depending on the tiers I'm not sure I could stay at $5. But you've been a part of my life for a long time, I look forward to your videos, and I'm happy to support you
John Swanson
2020-03-04 03:35:15 +0000 UTCDefinitely
2020-03-04 02:55:22 +0000 UTCI really don't care about the bonus or tiers-- granted it is a nice addition. However, I am just here to support and watch whatever you release.
2020-03-04 02:02:39 +0000 UTCI would be willing to pay 10$ or even 20$ a month if it means extra stuff and discounts or free merch. My husband and I have been listening since 2015! We think you’re awesome and have actually heard you at our local bowling alleys too! Keep it up!
2020-03-04 01:39:15 +0000 UTCI'm just happy to help out and watch the bonus content if/when you make it. I can see the potential for live stream stuff through discord or twitch or something that would be cool but living in Aus the timezones for myself atleast would make it hard to always be around for them. Either way I'm gonna keep pledged as long as I'm enjoying your stuff (which at this point has been at least ~5yrs or so). Keep it up Buckley!
Jarod S
2020-03-04 01:19:31 +0000 UTCI would up my pledge to 5 dollars for the early access and exclusives as these are parts of your patron platform that I enjoy the most . I'm not a fan of the 1 on 1 stuff personally but to each their own and some folks that pledge would desire that personal interaction monthly. Keep up the great work! I've been a long time lurker and fan and it's glad to have the angry comedian back. Always happy to support creators that I really enjoy long term.
2020-03-04 01:13:35 +0000 UTCI'm just supporting you so I get to hear more of your angry Canadian voice. If helping you pay the bills does it, then I'm down.
Amanda G.
2020-03-04 01:09:07 +0000 UTCAt this point, im not concerned with tiers. I will how ever say that you customer service (so to speak) is spot on and i love to see that continue. You are the quickest to respond to messages of any creator ive seen yet. Keep it up man!
2020-03-04 01:06:37 +0000 UTCPersonally I'm not really concerned about tiers or early access, but I have really enjoyed the bonus content so far and I'm just happy to support you so I'll keep chipping in every month regardless!
Sachi
2020-03-04 00:50:31 +0000 UTCI’ll support you no matter what and i think the tiers work, i tend to watch the early access stuff on here more then youtube. I’ll keep my 10 buck contribution and i hope you get that lost revenue. Im glad your back!
Elyssium
2020-03-04 00:35:47 +0000 UTCWell I'll up mine to get you closer to that full time mark. I do enjoy the early releases and other content, though I don't always watch the early releases, well, early. I'm certainly not going to try to insist or demand that you give me special shit for supporting you, but if you want to do it, I'll check it out. I've really enjoyed the "Advice Patreon asked for" and, well I can't remember the name but the Noire-style tales.
Shumiry
2020-03-04 00:08:12 +0000 UTCI'd sign up a $5 tier.
AJAkatsuki
2020-03-03 23:44:29 +0000 UTCHonestly I started out with only giving $2 to start just to see if Buckley would make it. Seeing how the first month was pulled off I am more than willing to up my contribution after seeing the results and activity from my 2nd favorite Canadian (1st one being a buddy of mine). Honestly I would love to have the opportunity to chat directly with Buckley as well once! Hope this keeps on going because I plan on sticking for the long haul!
2020-03-03 23:32:05 +0000 UTCAgreed, I'd bump my $2.50 to $3 for bonus stuff, but I'm not going to give a Netflix subscription a way for one Youtube channel, just don't have that kind of budget.
2020-03-03 23:31:09 +0000 UTCMaybe make a $3 tier that gives the bonus content but not early access or discord? That would make me bump my pledge to that for sure! I can wait for regular content to be released, but I love seeing the bonus stuff! Happy to have you back!
2020-03-03 23:21:23 +0000 UTCI'm a complete newbie to Patreon and the tier rewards system. If you do make tiers, I'm certainly not going to complain about getting bonus perks. That being said my biggest consideration when it comes to doing a monthly Patreon contribution is my income. As long as my job doesn't screw me over on hours too badly, I'll keep chipping in because I value the content you make.
2020-03-03 23:20:52 +0000 UTCI personally don’t care much about the tier system, but I do think it would be a great incentive for others to give more to help you produce your content. I’m going to be giving $5 regardless of a tier system or lack thereof because I’m so stoked you’re back and I want to support you.
2020-03-03 23:19:08 +0000 UTCI'm okay with tiers. I'm here for the bonus content and see them as a good motivator to increase monetary support.
2020-03-03 23:12:51 +0000 UTCNot too fussed about tiers personally but folk who can give that little bit extra should get a bit extra back. Like most of your fans I think we like being in a supportive group knowing we're helping to support the creation of the great content that gets us howling.
Connor Aitken
2020-03-03 23:11:08 +0000 UTCAs many others have already said, giving exclusive content to patrons would encourage people to stay, or bump up their pledge to get different benefits. The tiers you've suggested seem fair and beneficial for everyone.
2020-03-03 23:08:45 +0000 UTC...I just want my name to show up in one of your videos...
Sheena Theo
2020-03-03 22:42:08 +0000 UTCdont care for tiers. i just want content
2020-03-03 22:17:04 +0000 UTCI’m here because you actually make me laugh out loud - not just smile and nod. I bought your comedy specials as a way of showing my support and appreciation (also to enjoy them!) And I’m doing the same here with Patreon. I’m just glad you are making content again, and that it’s still grade A material.
Cogitated
2020-03-03 22:07:04 +0000 UTCI’m in it just to give something back for all the laughs and enjoyment you have given me with your content over the years.
2020-03-03 21:39:40 +0000 UTCExclusives would be pretty cool would definitely motivate me to hit that $5 tier mark
JustALittleGuy
2020-03-03 21:33:34 +0000 UTCI think you idea for the tiers is good.
2020-03-03 21:30:04 +0000 UTCExclusive videos is not something I feel a need for. I'd rather you didn't stretch yourself too thin on that front. Extra stuff like discord is nice, and enough. I'm not doing patreon for the bonuses, I'm doing it so that you'll make videos again like you used to. Good enough for me.
2020-03-03 21:24:27 +0000 UTCLike the tier idea, no problems with it
2020-03-03 21:08:49 +0000 UTCI'm down. I love the ideas.
John Dowling
2020-03-03 20:54:13 +0000 UTCThe tiers and bonuses in my case are really just bonuses for me. I just wanted to support one of the few content creators I can honestly say I've watched every video of. I like the Discord integration idea, it would allow more direct feedback and a little community of people with the same sense of humor to conglomerate, which could be fun! The bonus episodes that don't go to YouTube are nice additional content, the early uploads are cool but I'd still support even if I had to wait another day like usual. Maybe a bonus to consider is BTS process snapshots of what goes into a Dose. Maybe it's just me, but I find it fascinating seeing the process that goes into it. Practicing deliveries of lines, flubs, working out timing and etc. Either way, keep doing what you're doing!
Konomichi
2020-03-03 20:45:07 +0000 UTCI mostly don't care about bonus stuff. I'd totally join a discord server if that were made available to me, but I prefer to donate just a couple bucks to a bunch of my favorite creators, rather than a higher amount to a few. I have no problem with higher tiers getting bonus content that I don't get, but I will say that something I have seen happen in the past is that if you have too many tiers you run the risk of creating too large a workload for yourself with extra patreon content, and either your general audience suffers because your normal work is impacted, or your patrons suffer because they aren't getting everything they're paying for. For that main reason, I personally like a model that only has a couple tiers, one for most folks who are happy to support, and one for high ballers who really want to throw some money at you. That's my two or three cents.
Quazillionaire
2020-03-03 20:34:46 +0000 UTCFuck yeah i'm here for the bonus stuff, all sounds good, doc
Sarah Twist
2020-03-03 20:27:13 +0000 UTCI just wanted you start making vids again. Don't care about any specific perks. And happy to watch on YT. honestly easier that way.
2020-03-03 20:24:44 +0000 UTCI signed up as a thank you for all the years of free content you have already provided.
2020-03-03 20:20:04 +0000 UTCYou do you. I'm not going to change my amount because of tier benefits, but I'll gladly take any that come with what I give.
2020-03-03 20:17:41 +0000 UTCHonestly (to quote everyone else) I'm just happy to have you back. I was so excited when you started a patreon and you're the first person I've ever even considered supporting. I like the little extras because it seems like your having fun with them and I love the idea of a discord. Keep up the good work
2020-03-03 20:09:53 +0000 UTCAs someone who has been supporting mod creators on patreon for a while now, I can see both a positive and negative to the tier system. For those who just want to support you, the tiers are just an added bonus. However, they can also lock people out of content that they'd love to have, but cannot afford. That being said, I fit into both of these categories somewhat and have considered lowering some of my other pledges, or eliminating them, just so I could put more toward supporting your work. My husband and I both enjoy what you do and were excited to see you come back. So, in the end, whatever you choose will be fine. I will most likely be figuring a strategy to increase my support either way. Thank you so much for all the work you've done and plan to do!
2020-03-03 19:52:25 +0000 UTCI think it's a good idea, especially seeing it would encourage people to bump up their pledge. I'm in the "support for support's sake" category and I'm well aware my $2 a month isn't going to get me wealth of merch and prizes, I'm totally ok with that. I am a fan of early access though and I'd be stoked with a bit of extra content now and again, it's even more than I'd expect. I'm not likely to increase anything as I have to deal with currency conversion but I'd say those tiers seem fully reasonable and appealing to a lot of people.
2020-03-03 19:50:36 +0000 UTCKeep the bonuses coming, otherwise I could see people stop paying since they can go back to youtube
2020-03-03 19:32:44 +0000 UTCHonestly these tiers are just bonuses for us :). It's especially nice of you to offer stuff to the people who can't afford as much.
Chris
2020-03-03 19:31:45 +0000 UTCThis.
Pete Spicer
2020-03-03 19:24:21 +0000 UTCI think that your tier system is a good idea, makes me want to bump up to 10$. This is kind of a repeat but honestly I think that most of us are just happy that you started producing content again and the extra content is the icing on the cake that we will gladly take if it means do you more stuff.
2020-03-03 19:16:24 +0000 UTCSounds good. That being said I'll stay at 3$ unless Your backers start leaving more (I don't know how to check how many backers or goals are reached though, Patreon had some display changes and now I'm pretty lost on this site). I can't really spend more than 15$ on Patreon monthly and I'm already feeding a starving metal band from Andorra and an equally starving norwegian streaming/singing girl while giving 2$ to cool blokes at Zebra Corner
Michał Michalski
2020-03-03 19:14:08 +0000 UTCI'm happy to do $5/month just for you to make videos. I did enjoy advice patreon asked for and YouTube Autopsy a good amount too. Audio only works good!
2020-03-03 18:58:55 +0000 UTCAs a long time fan finally able to support , I am personally just stoked to have DoB back. The early access and Patron exclusive stuff is sweet, and I will always appreciate, but I'm stoked just to see that "New Dose of Buckley" notification again.
2020-03-03 18:56:37 +0000 UTCI signed up at patreon for you, so I have no idea how others handle it. just upload more of your stupid videos on that stupid youtube and I‘ll go to 10$. A discord would maybe be nice though 🤔
2020-03-03 18:55:12 +0000 UTCHey! I haven't really participated a heap because of my elderly 30 year old self is just getting the hang of the format of this app. I, like many others only have it for you. I understand the need for tiers to essentially give people what they're paying for. But for me, I love your content, and I see it as a way of paying you what you've always deserved on YouTube. So I'll jump on the $10 bandwagon, simply because I get at least $10 of enjoyment from your content. Discord would be pretty cool though! Keep it up brother
2020-03-03 18:52:13 +0000 UTCI don't mind the tiers since I started out paying $10 a month anyway. The bonus content I feel should eventually be made so all your viewers can enjoy it at some point.
Alex Plascencia
2020-03-03 18:49:06 +0000 UTCI'm just glad to have you back, my dude. However you choose to do things, I'm happy regardless.
Sir Toni
2020-03-03 18:42:57 +0000 UTCFWIW - I am so happy to have your content back and happy to be able to support you, even in a small way. I like the idea of the discord thing - but honestly if you didn't do anything extra that would be fine. I am fairly sure that I am not the earliest of your supporters - but I really like your content and honestly you are the only youtuber that I feel that strongly about to actually contribute to their patreon. For that matter - I think that you are working really hard and putting out good content and I think that's probably all any of us want. For me - the paramount concern would always be that you don't get to a point where you are burnt out. I know that this can be a blessing and a curse as you now feel obligated to make content - and I know that originally that was why you scaled back in the first place. I really don't have much to say on that since I am not a youtuber and don't really know anything about the work that goes into that (although I do some video editing for work I do - so I know it is a lot) - but as long as you are happy making content - I am happy to watch it and support you. In any event - I am happy to have your new rants to listen to again :) Keep up the good work!
2020-03-03 18:42:45 +0000 UTCI really only added my support to see the show continue. I think the perks are just a little extra and I'm happy with them. I only donate like a dollar but I get a lot of cool things for that and I'm appreciative. I'd never donated to a Patreon before so I'm glad this could convince me.
2020-03-03 18:40:20 +0000 UTCI started supporting you because I was ecstatic to see you return. I'm not here just for the bonus stuff - though I will say that it is nice. The tiers seem reasonable to me; even people giving on the lower end are getting something and they don't go so high where I look at them and go "damn he's really expecting people to give him that much?".
2020-03-03 18:34:53 +0000 UTCI don't love tiers on Patreon and I can't really articulate why, but I'm just here to support you making content. Bonus content or no bonus content, I'll continue giving at a level I feel comfortable with and enjoying the content you do put out.
2020-03-03 18:31:16 +0000 UTCSome others I contribute to offer 3 or 4 group hangouts for an hour per month (10 people cap.. usually no more than 7 even show up) at the 10 dollar level, and 30 minutes of 1 on 1 hangouts at the $20 level. These are scheduled at the start of the month. Just more ideas to consider.
Jason Rushing
2020-03-03 18:30:30 +0000 UTCOverall a good idea, but it's not clear what the difference is between a 1 $ and 2 $ donation. How many more extras does a 2 $ donator get compared to a 1 $ donator? What about a three tier system with a sub-5 $, a 5 $ and a 10 $ (and above)?
2020-03-03 18:25:01 +0000 UTCAs a long-time fan of your work, I really enjoy having access to even more of your content. Still, I would not mind if you put the stuff on Youtube later on - I mean, that's still where your main audience is watching. The tiers work for me, so no objections there. Just do what feels most comfortable for you!
Martin Konrad
2020-03-03 18:24:19 +0000 UTCWhen you went on hiatus, you had said it was because you weren't enjoying it. And honestly, that's what I'm here to support. You doing something you can enjoy, as long as you still do. I don't really know much about supporting patreons, I only blindly supported 1 other person for like 2 years (blindly brcause, he was a cosplayer and I liked supporting the craft, but I wasn't like an active member in his community) so, I don't know? I'm happy enough to support without expecting anything else.

2020-03-03 18:17:57 +0000 UTC"Eh, I don't even care about tiers and bonus stuff, just put out your videos and I'll watch them and support you." and "just upload it on YouTube, that's where I watch you" are my answers.
2020-03-03 18:17:45 +0000 UTCI'm just supporting you. I can't really do a high tier of support because I'm a full time student but I like the content and the bonus content is kind of hit or miss for me. I am glad you've warmed up to monetizing your content in some way, especially since it avoids ad revenue. The bonus content has been kinda hit or miss IMO. I'm pretty sure half of the comments on the first one were copied from Reddit. I don't like that format in general though, kinda reminds me of rslash and the youtubers that just browse reddit for you. I've always been following you to hear you shit on pop culture and that's about it.
2020-03-03 18:17:34 +0000 UTCHonestly I'm just here to support one of my favorite youtube creators. I've been watching you since 2012 and I'm just here for the ride and to support you in whatever way I can.

2020-03-03 18:09:32 +0000 UTCLike you, I'm Canadian - and Patreon doesn't allow for pledges in local currency, only USD. I can't really go past the $5 tier if I want to guarantee that I can keep my subscription and still accept the conversion from CAD. I hope that doesn't sound cheap, because I really appreciate your content and am glad that Patreon has brought you back. I don't see any reason to object to the tiers you've outlined, even knowing I can't go any higher though - I definitely think it makes sense to offer rewards to those that can. Edit: I appreciate having some Patreon exclusives, but I also don't think they're strictly necessary as far as YouTube content goes. A Patreon only discord would be cool, or maybe a Patreon subscriber only live stream or something.
2020-03-03 18:09:10 +0000 UTCI'm a corporate whore, I will totally go for the $10 tier
Thomas Amenta
2020-03-03 18:03:47 +0000 UTCPersonally I just appreciate that you’re making content again. That said, if you were to implement the model described I’d bump my pledge up to $10, maybe more depending on what’s offered. As far as video uploads go, a video or two per month that’s exclusive to say the $5 or $10 tier would be cool. But at the end of the day I’m gonna watch it here and then give it a thumbs up when you put it on YouTube

2020-03-03 18:02:43 +0000 UTCOh, yeah I forgot about that. I'm sure that "Advice Patreon Asked For" would give preference to the higher tiers as well, or the idea I had for "Patreon goes Postal" where people can ask me questions.
Adam Buckley
2020-03-03 18:02:35 +0000 UTCI just want to keep it going. That said, I'd love bonus content but I'm not in a position to do more than the low-tier I'm doing now. So, whatever you decide, I'm not going to cut you off for it.
2020-03-03 18:01:58 +0000 UTCI'm happy with the "premiere on Patreon followed by wide release on YouTube" model. It allows those of us with an itch for another fix to get it early, while also enabling you to reach new viewers/supporters as well as those who can't support you on Patreon for whatever reason.
2020-03-03 18:01:42 +0000 UTCI'm just in it to throw support and enjoy your videos.

2020-03-03 17:55:28 +0000 UTCThis system is decent. 500 $1 supporters can go a long way. As for the $10 tier, it's not too high and the benefits are awesome. Even as a pretty big fan, I find it hard to justify supporting with that much. Then again, it could be that way with any creator I'd support. I've seen people blow more money on lesser (Supreme, etc., maybe I just handed you a new rant topic). I'll move to $5 or $2 but I'm not much of a discord guy. Maybe a Patreon exclusive read your questions dose? Either way glad to see there's some discussion.

2020-03-03 17:53:07 +0000 UTCI definitely appreciate this feedback, and it's why I also didn't want to tell everyone who's supporting for a $1 "too bad you get jack shit!", I want them to feel like they are appreciated too.
Adam Buckley
2020-03-03 17:52:59 +0000 UTCThere are a few people who would be in an even higher tier, I guess the question would be an appropriate reward for that. And also, you can pledge whatever you want. Patreon informed me that someone could pay $20 a month, and select that they'd like to be in the $1 tier. So, it's up to them I guess. I did think about a higher tier where... maybe like the first time you join it, you get a Cameo style video where I roast you or a friend.
Adam Buckley
2020-03-03 17:50:37 +0000 UTCThere's a few that do a count thousand a month. Idk who has that kinda of money but that is way too much to me.
2020-03-03 17:48:08 +0000 UTCPersonally I find the tiers a little off-putting and would rather have it has is now, where anyone that helps out gets to be part of the group. This is the only Patreon i have ever donated to and its because you dont make gatcha content and told advertisers to F off. Your content is worth paying to support tho.
Richard Briggs
2020-03-03 17:48:06 +0000 UTCShoot, well I guess I am gonna be spending $5 each month. I really like these tiers because sometimes when I look at these I am like dang who has that kind of money. Keep on keepin on
2020-03-03 17:45:56 +0000 UTCHonestly i'm just paying cuz i want to support ya and i have the means to now. I like your stuff. I've liked it since i found ya about 6 years ago with your musical autopsy of "according to you" and "call me maybe" both songs i enjoyed but saw your points on. So if i get some more stuff for my money cool if not still fine with it along as ya enjoy putting your stuff out there. I literally just want ya to make stuff that makes ya happy cuz it makes it more fun to watch for me. I also just like your humor. I'll pay the 5 bucks if it means ya can do stuff ya like. The dramatic readings, smaller doses and "the advice patreons asked for" are just really cool bonuses to me.
2020-03-03 17:42:58 +0000 UTCDefinitely support anything that comes out of this wonderful endeavor. I like the idea of the tiers. :)
2020-03-03 17:39:17 +0000 UTCMy only feedback for now is I want a $20 tier. Perhaps higher. That tax return isn't gonna spend itself.
2020-03-03 17:38:43 +0000 UTCI love the tier stuff. It’s not too steep in terms of privileges, and merch stuff does tempt me to go from $5 to $10. I’d support you anyway, tier or not, but having the bonus stuff is great. Especially since we can have slightly more contact with you on here and having rewards does keep motivating me and remind me why it’s so great to give, and that’s really fun for me.
Emma Deschamps
2020-03-03 17:37:37 +0000 UTCAlso, live chats. I’d love to interact while you’re streaming on YT or something.
2020-03-03 17:37:35 +0000 UTCFuck it. Guess I’m jumping to $10/mo.
2020-03-03 17:32:53 +0000 UTCOh yeah. Discord. Make a discord
2020-03-03 17:32:49 +0000 UTCGood teirs!
Keybladestrike1
2020-03-03 17:32:44 +0000 UTCDude I’m behind you no matter what and I’ll probably jump to 10 if I’m not already on it. But I like the new tiers. Really thought you’d hit the final tier number...
2020-03-03 17:32:00 +0000 UTCI can get behind $10/month. That’s probably my max though. $10 a month is fair. I’ve seen people do $50 a month and that RIDICULOUS in my opinion.
Elijah Tittman
2020-03-03 17:31:13 +0000 UTCI think the tiers are at good price intervals. Looking forward to discord integration.
2020-03-03 17:30:13 +0000 UTCNot really a merch person, but I might lurk on Discord to relive my IRC nostalgia. I don’t currently use Discord and you would be the only reason I’d get it. You know my thoughts on everything else by now.
2020-03-03 17:29:48 +0000 UTCHonestly, I’m just here for the normal content. I found you on YouTube in early 2012, just after the release of the 2011 worst songs list, and you’ve been a staple for me for nearly a decade, same as the sports I follow or the tv shows I watch. I genuinely missed it when you were on hiatus, and if you were asking for the cost of a UK Netflix subscription - which with the conversion I think is about $10 Canadian - for standard content (if there were no tiers and no bonuses) then I would be cool with that. Bonuses are nice but I’m more interested in contributing to you continuing A Dose of Buckley at foundation level. Maybe if I was someone who could watch bonus content as soon as it’s released I’d be more invested but realistically it takes a couple of days between work and uni. Not knocking anyone who wants it, but I’m more invested in you and the content than a cheap t shirt. (Bearing in mind, I’ll still take it though).
2020-03-03 17:29:23 +0000 UTCThis could be interesting ! Even if you dont owe us anything only because we're fans, i like the discord thing, could be nice to chat with my favorite asshole ! The only thing i would not be confortable with is the merch at cost. I do belive, even if we are subscribed, that you should make a bit of profit out of it. But in the end, I guess i'll jump from 5 to 10!
2020-03-03 17:27:26 +0000 UTCI think the discord is a good idea, it’ll serve as a way for us to get to know you as a person more, seeing that jumping from $5-$10 will get me a discount and some form of recognition makes me want to jump up to the $10 tier, one thing that I think would be a good idea is if you had a high tier like $50 or $100 only expected to be paid once before going back to a normal tier where they can maybe request an autopsy, or a topic to talk about, or something like that, I don’t think it’ll be used much but I can assure you it will be used more than once, I wish you all the success in the world man, and I’m ecstatic that you’re back
ShooterMcgavin
2020-03-03 17:26:59 +0000 UTCI like the idea. Have a standard tier where you get most of the stuff and add higher end tier for merchandise and maybe some honorary mentions or one video idea from top tier supporters. These should be limited in number
2020-03-03 17:26:47 +0000 UTCAlso if someone in that tier is like "I'm feeling left out, I want my name on!" I'll be happy to oblige. As I mentioned, the actual interaction on Patreon so far hasn't been crazy, even with 1600+ people, so everything is pretty manageable right now (but obviously, I can't put 1600 names on a slide or two in a video, it'll be unreadable).
Adam Buckley
2020-03-03 17:26:06 +0000 UTCI'm just here to listen to a canadian that swears a lot and not within the confines of his empire of dirt. More than happy to chip in to the shop beer fund or whatever you call it.
2020-03-03 17:25:33 +0000 UTCI'm mostly here for the videos personally but getting discord integration would be cool. I might get a hat or patch if you throw it up but I typically don't get shirts. Glad to hear patreon goals are within reach. Keep up the good work
2020-03-03 17:25:18 +0000 UTCThe tiers are good, and exclusive content can be a decent little kick in the pants for people to support. Or you could have timed exclusives, where supporters can view it first for a week or two, then dump it on YouTube if you want to. I really enjoy the idea of picking random names for Patreon mentions, kinda shines a different light on who supports you.
Robert Williams
2020-03-03 17:25:06 +0000 UTCPersonally, because I have been watching you since around 2011, I really like the bonuses and I actually do watch you on patreon as soon as you post. If you start putting out merch, I'd definitely support that and would be really excited about it. I'm honestly just glad you're back and I'm just happy to watch whatever you put out.
2020-03-03 17:24:41 +0000 UTCI'm not a big Discord or merch guy, but I do appreciate the thought going into those tiers! I'm here for the content mainly though. Hope that helps
2020-03-03 17:24:12 +0000 UTCVery well thought out, I definitely think it's a good idea. I'm just glad you're back and have enjoyed your stuff for the last however many years (2011 maybe?) . There's value in what you give us and I'm happy to finally be able to show it in a way that benefits you. (And encourages you to make more!)
Jen Riemenschneider
2020-03-03 17:23:58 +0000 UTCI think that this tier level is fair. I was almost going to say that this might piss a few fans off because they will want something for their one dollar. But most people are just glad to have you back and probably don’t care as much about the bonus content.
Dylan Faughn
2020-03-03 17:23:49 +0000 UTCI wonder if the trump post caused some to leave. But I think these tiers are reasonable. Even at $1, you still get something. $2, $5, and $10 are still reasonable. For the cost of a Spotify membership or less, you get bonus material. Id say no complaints here
Joe Bolz
2020-03-03 17:23:40 +0000 UTCI like the idea of the tiers and getting exclusive stuff. I follow other patrons and they have options for the higher up tiers where they get to vote on an aspect of an upcoming video. So that's an idea.
Geni Outis
2020-03-03 17:23:37 +0000 UTCI'm on board with tiers, however you want to set them up. I think exclusives are a good incentive, and personally I'd probably go with the $5 tier (at least until my new job picks up)
Evey
2020-03-03 17:23:29 +0000 UTCcopy and paste said comments above.

2020-03-03 17:23:23 +0000 UTCSounds great! It’s simple and clear, unlike some other tiers I’ve seen on Patreon. The random names for 5 dollar supporters is a nice touch as well.
2020-03-03 17:22:39 +0000 UTCI think the discord is a great idea. The merch too I can’t wait for. The tiers are great imo. Not too crazy and not too underwhelming. I’ll support the idea 100%. I’ll even support it if you don’t do tiers. But the discord is a really good idea. I hope you’ll end up doing that.
