Shriekcast Plays Alan Wake Pt. 1: Cranking It

The last time we did this, we were playing a bad shooter based on The Deathly Hallows Pt. 1. This time, we're playing a bad shooter that's much more lovable--Alan Wake, the 2010 action-horror game from Remedy. It stars a beleaguered airport paperback writer, which feels like a perfect fit in our post-Potter mass market novel era.
In this first video, we get through the intro and the first "episode" of the game. Liz has to learn not one but two reload buttons, Alan cranks it, and we salute our fallen Lincoln™ while loading our flashlight with Energizer™ batteries--and more!

Also it occurs to me that Alan Wake’s manuscript is essentially Mirai Nikki and I don’t really know what to do with this information

I’m excited to watch your experience side by side with my own!

2023-12-07 23:56:49 +0000 UTCAlso if backseat gaming is allowed, letting go of focus allows batteries to recharge as long as they aren't all the way at zero. Having the flashlight at default also does do some damage to the darkness shield, just not as much as the focus.

There was even a moment where I started talking to someone who I thought was xeecee (??) but then I very dramatically went, "wait! no beard!! i've got the wrong person!!!"
