Yakuza: Like a Dragon | The End of Yakuza | Part Arakawa-SAN (Ichiban-Ka)

We've done it! We've come to the end of the Yakuza series (technically!) Ichiban's debut comes to an end with one of the series most hard hitting endings. Big talks of themes and society.

The full upload will hopefully be out tomorrow and will be charged for, this version will remain unlisted as it got hit for the section of Ichiban-Ka, so the public version will have the tiniest of changes

My response to your ending: I started watching your videos because of your Video on YIIk. That game left me baffled beyond belief and you had the insight knowledge about the game i was looking for. As for the Yakuza series, i got introduced via Zero and have thoroughly enjoyed that game. It wasn't until I had played far through YZ that I began watching your Yakuza Series. That being said, i not only find your videos informative but extremely mind opening. I enjoy your deep knowledge of the series against my lack of such, especially when it comes to judging characters actions and decisions. That's not even mentioning the way your writing and video direction makes every one of your videos thoroughly enjoyable. In short: your Yakuza series has not only made me appreciate the extreme talent that RGG has displayed through the years but also showcases your talent as a writer and as a speaker. Your videos always give me a lot to agree with and more to think about.

There's far greater snappiness to the combat. It's sharper and control feels more direct. Post dragon engine I feel a bit more like I'm pulling a shopping trolley on a rope. It lends greater heft and momentum to some aspects of combat but removes a good deal of the immediacy and tactility from it. Having not played LJ I've got an incomplete perspective to work from and I've heard it's very, very good. But from what I have played it feels like Yakuza 6 wanted to go in a more freeform, physics based direction, and early failed experiments have led to an awkward half step back. Thing is, conceptually I enjoy Yakuza 6, I kinda wish we got to see them try to keep iterating on that new approach in some fashion. It feels bland to say but I think if they'd kept some of the physics influence while maybe making player control more sharp as it used to be you could have the best of both worlds. Gaiden I remember really disliking the feel, I wasn't hot on either style and kept waiting on the upgrades that'd make either feel whole but they never came.

When discussing the combat, you mentioned that you prefer the pre-dragon engine feel of real time combat. I agree, with 5 and 0 being my personal favorites in that regard. But I'm curious, what specifically about it do you prefer? And can you think of any changes they could make to the dragon engine combat that would improve or even surpass the old feel?

With the ending of the video i do really want to say how much i appreciate your work. Your videos helped me a lot in my enjoyment of videogames and being better in articulating my thoughts. The Yakuza Videos were for me my way to experience these games as i never really got along with the old Combat System, so i was really excited when i i have finally played one before watching your take on it. So again i really appreaciate you.
