Episode 166: Meteor Safety

Twilight Chapter 4/Midnight Sun Chapters 4-5.

We check in once more with the money fandom to see how Fantastic Beast's U.S. box offices numbers look before diving into a triple (!) helping of vampire drama. This week, Bella is free from the hospital and already back to gruffly monologuing about everything that bothers her--and this week, it's boys; both boys who aren't Edward, but perhaps Edward most of all. We've got tons of school drama, vampire council meetings, outrageous displays of vampire superspeed, and a truly shocking last minute revelation from Liz's side of the reading that turns everything about Twilight upside down. How will Edward's Boyfriend Points stack up this week?

(minor note: the third segment this week is a very funny article comparing Twilight to the new Batman movie, so naturally there's spoilers for that in case you've been waiting to catch that on streaming which I guess came out today??)

Again I am so glad you guys took this up— somehow when the first episode reading Twilight came out I felt fatigue at the idea despite it being in the works for a while, since Twilight is often an easy target for Youtubers to lambast whether in movie or book form— even though I'm not for the book but don't feel strong enough to be against, I really appreciate the level-headed takes presented the past few episodes. Meeting this series at face value washed away all my worries of this just being a repeat of all those other takedowns, no offense to those creators of course. And... the people trying to reclaim Twilight as a feminist masterpiece are not only just as tired but have the added element of being very trite. This podcast is a great labor of love, I hope it goes even beyond the Twilight series and onto others because you guys are real as hell!! Thank you.

I just want to see Edward reach his maximum speed of necks-snapped-per-second

Twilight chat: I hope Meyers keeps re-writing Twilight. Like what if her next Twilight universe project is the branching future where Edward murders Bella and its dark and gritty? I'll also fall back on my prior Twilight 2077 where its just the first book set in a cyberpunk Forks, WA.
