my own view with the split personality critic is that it mainly criticises how fiction (mis)uses depiction of that. I know there's a bunch of blog posts out there looking at the When They Cry series and its dealing with plurality on another note, fun fact about the steam sprites, the new sprite does actually add a pirate hat for that character in that scene you described, which is silly
