An Important Update for Patreon 2022

Hey Patrons, Alex here, I’m contacting you today because at the start of April, there will be some changes coming to the Super Beard Bros Patreon, and I wanted to make sure you were aware of them with plenty of advance notice so when everything changes over, on April 1 (actually happening, not a prank, not an April Fool’s Day bit) and the big trailer comes out on the channel, you don’t feel lost or surprised.

We based all these changes on your responses to the Patreon satisfaction survey a few months back, so thanks for the info and we hope you enjoy!

Anyway, here’s a brief summary of the changes.

-Discord access is now going to be open to anyone who contributes any money at all, even below the Lil Stubble tier. This is because we’re now giving each tier a special role and room within the patreon where they can hang out and do all kinds of new benefits-related stuff. You’ll see what I mean in a second.

-Now that we’ve removed Discord as the Lil Stubble tier benefit, we’re going to be moving Masterbeard Theater access down to this tier instead. So many people love to watch these movie commentaries, we thought that after so long, everyone deserves a chance to access them. Also, we love it most when Jirard gets to join us for these, and since he’s on TV now, this is our compromise.  He’ll be on every last new Masterbeard Theater episode going forward, but they’ll come out a little less frequently than every month.

-The Basic Beard Tier is staying pretty much the same. You’ll still get early access, but now you’ll also have access to a special discord where you can influence even more stuff about whatever series is currently in early access. For the Pokemon HGSS Randomized Nuzlocke, that means helping us design secret endgame boss teams for Alex and Brett to challenge after finishing the Pokemon league!

-Super Beard Tier is where Masterbeard Theater used to be, and we’re replacing it with something we’re really excited about, a new official twice-a-month podcast called Super Beard Show, where Alex and Brett (and sometimes Jirard) go above and beyond video games (while still also talking about video games a lot) in a new, audio-only format. The podcast itself will be free to the public, but this tier is the only place to submit episode titles, Q&A responses that we’ll read live on the show, AMA questions, voice memos, and more! Plus you’ll get episodes as soon as they’re recorded rather than waiting like everyone else. Episode 1 goes live Friday with the announcement video so you can see what you think!

-Hyper Beard Tier is still going to be home to Super Beard Bowl, except now it’s going to be season 4. That means a new funny voice for the intros from me, but we’re also adding another fun element this year, where every couple months, Patrons will also be able to vote on which past Beard Bowl series we’ll be adapting into a full series on the channel schedule. We’re going to kick off April 1 with a vote just like that featuring all your favorites series from Season 3 too, just to give you a taste, so get ready for that!

-The Ultra Beard Tier is still going to be a tier where you get pieces of monthly merch exclusively for Patrons, but now, instead of just t-shirts, every month we’ll come to you with a poll pitching three different pieces of merch, and then you get to vote for what you want!  This can be anything from a nice poster, to a mug, to copies of The Lone Ranger on Blu Ray. Also, there’ll still going to be plenty of shirts!

-And finally Ultra Super Beard Tier II Hyper Fighting, home of Eff-It Beard Bros is going to be remaining largely the same. However, we’re streamlining our production process to make the videos that result into something more collaborative with us, and doubling and tripling down on getting our extensive pandemic backlog of Eff It videos finished, so at least until June, this tier is going to be closed to new sign-ups as we move back into the office full-time and wrap them up.

Okay! And that’s everything you need to know before April 1, which again, is just an unfortunate coincidence and not a prank at all. However, please try and watch that video on Friday anyway, because there’s still a surprise or two I didn’t mention that I think you’ll find pretty refreshing and exciting.

These tiers will all change automatically, so if you’re in one of these tiers and you want to move to another one, do so before April 1, or you’ll continue in the tier you’re currently signed up for. If you’re in the Eff-It Beard Bowl Tier, staying in the tier will continue to charge you because Patreon doesn’t let us remove members ourselves, but you will not gain new benefits until we reopen the tier this summer!
