Maps & GeoCity Tiles

The arid Savannah-lands fort and trading outpost in 2 eras
After a visitation from Murphy's Law, and the loss of hours of work... both era maps are nearing completion again and will be out later this month  ...

The next tiny settlement map, after the fort maps are finished, will be a ruined goblin hamlet in a dark forest. I am looking forward to exploring a darker feel and a different architecture...

If you have any ideas for 'nearby' locations that you would like to have in the forest around the settlement, drop them below or on discord :-)

The 2nd series of GeoCity Tiles is City Walls

We had a 64:36 win in the poll - 70:30 if I take my own vote out of it, so we are definitely adding in walls for the next few months. I am aiming for another series of 150 tiles.

The look of the walls and tower and moat is all worked out and I have begun the first set of tiles, which will be straight sections of wall and outward pointing right-angle corners, with a couple of gates and a mix of building types on the inside of the walls.
The next set will add more straight sections and inward pointing corners. Then we will explore more interesting wall shapes.

For those of you are not Defenders of Chaos and would like to get the first series at full resolution, with all 5 colour variations, I have added it to Roll20 as a bundle pack (the type of bundle that has dynamic pricing if you already have the sets 1-4 pack)

Mapping Assets

I have been working towards creating City-mapping assets for over a year now.
The GeoCity tiles have been a core part of that, largely as a exploration of style. I want to create city-mapping assets that don't have directional shadows on the roofs etc, so that they are completely rotatable and flippable without messing up the light direction.
I am now able to start to extract building clusters and other things from the tiles to turn into building assets, which is exciting.

I am also planning sets of cartography things too, like map frames, compass roses etc. Starting with a set of 'paper scraps' for keys and titles. like the ones on the last few maps.

I plan to focus on the city map scale I have been using for the Geocity tiles (where 20 pixels is about 2m or 5-6feet - give or take). A few battlemap ones might emerge too though.

How I will release them...

Since my life is still unsettled, what with aging parents needing irregular time and help, living in a van (& reliant on what the sun will give me for power) in between house sitting, and still coming out of a bad case of anemia... I unable to plan for a predictable 'monthly output'. Ideally I would have a settled life, regular work time, and be able to open another tier for asset collectors
If wishes were horses

As it is, I am not going to make the assets a Patreon supporters reward yet.

A monthly map release (or 2 if when I am able) will remain my key focus, with assets filling in any extra time I can find.

When they are ready, I will put them up on Roll20, as well as setting up the new 'shop tab/page/thing' here on Patreon (Patreon is experimenting with it at the moment) and I will let you all know about them here.

We shall see how they go. If they turn out to be useful to a lot of folk, and I can manage a regular-ish output. I might be able to set up a 'Creators of Chaos' tier. ... but for now that will have to live in the 'maybe' pile.

I have set up a new public #mapping-with-assets channel over on my Discord (invite link) for anyone who would like to chat about mapping with assets using the various different software, or make suggestions for what sort of assets you would like to see made (especially ones that are hard to find anywhere else)

And that is all the news for moment I think

Have a great month everyone
may it be a wonderful start to spring or autumn
