A whole bunch of updates

Hi all!

First, a quick shout out to some of the newest patrons: welcome aboard Daniel K, Olaf, Dylan Green, Andrew Stoneman, Martin Grider, Allan Bailey, Paige Forrest, and Wouter! Great to have you all here.

I have a bunch of projects that are getting close to done, but aren’t quite over the finish line yet, so I wanted to give a bit of a status update and preview some things coming down the line.

Singularity.Games website:

First a boring but important one. I’ve been going through and updating a lot of the Singularity.Games website to include more documentation, including 3D-printing guides, print and play guides, and improving the multideck maker tutorials. Patreon’s search function isn’t always great and information on specific project can be spread across multiple posts, so the website is the best long-term reference. Within the patron drive, I’m adding links to the tutorials on the website, and on the website I’m adding info on where to find the files on the patron drive. There is still a ton to do in this regard, but hopefully these improvements should help both long-time patrons and new comers find the info they need.

Singularity Piecepack Third Edition:

The proofs for the Third Edition Piecepack should be sent off to the Game Crafter in the next few days. There are always a million little details that need to be tweaked when prepping things for printing, but all I have left now are the dice. My plan is to get everything sent to the Game Crafter ASAP, then work on formatting the print and play files while I wait for the proofs to arrive. From there I'll review the proofs and write the multideck maker tutorial for customizing your own print and play piecepack.

Singularity Deck Dice:

I've wanted to try my hand at designing and making dice for awhile now and the new version of the Singularity Deck finally gave me a good excuse to do it. These are 3D-printable dice that have the icons and font of the Singularity Deck. I don't have anything specific in mind for how these would be used, but they could be useful in randomizing a suit or rank. They are super close to being done. I've test printed them on both resin and FDM printers, I just need to finish up the printing guide.

RPG Dice:

These are a full set of RPG dice using the Singularity Deck font. Like the Singularity Deck Dice, I should have everything ready to share very soon.

Magnetic Hex Board Without Cut-out Corners:

Martin Grider suggested making a version of the magnetic hex board without the holes at the corners of the hexes. Both the 1-inch and 1.5 inch versions are just about ready. I just still need to test print them to double-check that nothing weird happened from tweaking the models. Long-term any future development will still focus on the "standard" cut-corner version given it's added functionality, but for those who prefer the aesthetics of a more normal hex, I'm happy to provide the option.

Magnetic Hex Assembler:

To help speed up magnetic hex assembly, I designed a tool to help folks insert the magnets and press the two hex halves together. It took a few iterations to dial everything in, but I think it turned out great and it really does make assembly easier as it considerably reduces the amount of dexterity required to put the hexes together. Given I just showed off the "alternative" full-corner hex versions above, I should note that the hex assembler only works with the "standard" cut-corner hexes. I still need to test the 1-inch version and write up the print and usage guides, so it may be a little while before this is ready to share in more depth.

All the best,
Matthew
