After dropping the latest and greatest in magnetic hex board technology last month, I'm excited to present to you the inch version:

The 1-inch magnetic hex sitting on the 1.5 inch hex.

The 1-inch shares all of the same features as its larger sibling.
It has a center magnet for connecting pawns. The 1-inch version has one spot for magnets on each edge as opposed to 3 in the larger version.

Pawns connecting to the 1-inch board.
The corner holes are the same size as the bigger one, meaning the tops of the pawns will fit along with the lifter tool.

I've also designed some hexagonal "stones," to go along with the board. Like the pawns they have a cavity for placing a magnet during printing:

Here are the stones on the 1.5 inch board:

Each sized hex board can of course be used on its own, but they also compliment each other. You could use the 1.5-inch hexes to lay out the board and then use the 1-inch hexes as the player pieces. Or you can combine everything together:

One of the things I'm excited about is making dual colored hexes with icons.
For example here is a 1-inch hex with a sword icon:

This could be used for an abstract skirmish game or rpg:

"The blue swordsman stands valiantly against the foul red hex!"
And like I mentioned in the title this can also be used to make a magnetic Hive Pocket set:

The Hive set needs a few tweaks still, so it wont be ready to go just yet, but I was too excited about it and wanted to show it off.
These were all printed with a single-nozzle Ender 3, so just about any printer will be able to handle it. You just print the inlay, and then swap the filament and print the hexes with a bit of extra z-hop so the nozzle passes over the inlay. I'll provide more details when everything is ready to go.

For now though, you can download the files for the 1-inch hex and the magnetic stones from the patron drive: Patron Drive (https://www.patreon.com/posts/huge-thanks-link-28259219)-> Singularity Boards -> Magnetic Hex Board V2
If anyone has any ideas about expanding the functionality of this board, I'd love to hear them.
Also, for any fellow fans of The Expanse, in between printing hexes I've been printing an absolutely beautifully designed model of the Rocinante by Martin Taichl: https://www.printables.com/model/136343-rocinante-from-expanse. I've been printing it off and on for about a month and now everything is finally ready for paint.
