Hi all,
The symmetric version of the Singularity Deck Third Edition is just about ready to go! As soon as the printing issue I mentioned yesterday (https://www.patreon.com/posts/singularity-deck-72454602) is resolved, I’m going to submit the symmetrical versions of the cards to the printers. The hope (knock on wood) is that both printed versions should be live in October.
For the print and play fans, the files have been uploaded to the patron drive -> Singularity Deck -> Singularity Deck 3.0
Here are the changes between the asymmetric version (the “classic” Singularity Deck layout) and the symmetric version:
1. The biggest change is that rather than having the number ranks on one side and the dice ranks on the other, both can be found on each corner as seen here:

This keeps the functionality consistent between the two deck versions, including the decks compatibility with the Singularity Piecepack. The advantage of this layout is that there is no need to ever rotate the cards during play. The disadvantage is if using the dice ranks they are de-emphasized visually, which could lead to some confusion. Pairing the two decks together allow you to play dual-deck games like Pinochle, while being able to easily separate the decks after the game ends.
2. The artwork for a dozen or so cards needed to be tweaked to make sure the dice ranks were readable. For example, the flail on the Queen of Stars was modified to not overlap the dice rank.

3. Lastly, the position of the pips have been updated to be as symmetric as possible. This was a bit more of an undertaking than might be expected given the quirks of NanDeck. While the asymmetric pips in the asymmetric deck required two layers, the symmetric version required six layers. I’ll spare you all the details, but for anyone using the Multideck Maker layouts to customize their own cards, don’t be surprised to see a bunch of columns dedicated to the pips. Speaking of which, the Multideck Maker assets and layouts should be uploaded for the new symmetric deck in the next few days.
