Singularity Deck Third Edition Full Draft

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to show off the full rough draft of the Third Edition of the Singularity Deck.

First of all a huge thanks for everyone who has supported this project along the way!

Before I send things off for a test print, I want to start getting more eyes on the design.

Here are a few areas of concern for me, but I would love whatever your thoughts and feedback are:

1. Overall, does the artwork feel cohesive and consistent?

2. Do any cards clash or stand out (in a negative way)?

3. Are the colors for each suit complimentary, yet distinct.

4. Do the suit icons feel consistent? Like they belong together?

5. Does the custom font feel consistent with the card artwork. Is it clear and legible?

First up is the card back. I previously posted details about the new card back art (https://www.patreon.com/posts/singularity-deck-61254463), but here you can see multiple instances of the design next to one another, which gives a bit of a different impression than one instance of the design on its own:

For Clubs, I'm showing off every rank to give everyone an idea of what the complete suit of cards looks like, but for the remainder of the suits I'm only showing a sampling of the number cards given how similar they are to each other.

Singularity Deck Third Edition Full Draft

Comments

As soon as I get the proofs ordered for the updated Singularity Deck, I should have some time to start working this.

Hello everyone... Sorry to 'resucitate' an old (and dead?) post... For my humble point of view, I'm very interested for having the raw material for the PiecePack also. I would like to build on it for personal customisation. For the last question, personaly, I more interested with the 2nd version... :-/ Sorry for this, even if the 3rd version of the deck is getting lot of people enthousiastic, I do prefer the v2 with its white background (which by essence is solving questions like 'white margins?'). I fully understand that you, as the author, followsyour taste and the taste f most the patreons, so no big deal... My request is simply to get the PiecePack in a "maker" form as you did for the deck.

Hi V. Thanks for Letting me know there is interest! I'll have more to say about Piecepack plans in the next several days.

I would be interested in a new updated piecepack version, honestly, especially if I can get all of the suits! (I like having complete sets).

V

I'm in no rush right now; but ultimately for the piecepack I'd be more interested in a physical copy from TGC, and the updated version icons would be cool!

Yeah, I've been so focused on finishing up the third edition deck, this got put on the back burner a bit. The files for the cosmos piecepack are 90% done. Are you mostly interested in the print and play files or getting a physical copy from the game crafter? I should be able to get print and play files up pretty quickly. Game crafter might take a little while still. Longterm my plan is to make a similar toolset as the multideck maker stuff for the piecepack, so it's easy for folks to make their own version. Also, how interested would you be in an updated version using the new third edition suit icons?

Hi Jules. Thanks for all your thoughts! Thematically the suits all represent the same things they did in the earlier edition. I've just been a bit sloppy with how I reference the more thematic names (planets vs. Baryonic matter). Moving forward I'm trying to stick with referencing the more shape-based names primarily, just because it helps with gameplay. It's much easier to say "pass me the 4 of crosses", than it is to say "4 of Dark Energy".

Also, I forgot to ask but is the singularity piecepack going to also have the cosmos suit (and maybe also spacetime & wormhole)? I think you posted pics of it on twitter a while ago

Honestly, I really like the new style! The way the suit color is used in the background makes it pretty distinctive, and the cards back is pretty intricate without being cluttered either. The artwork is both cohesive and consistent, also I love how you assigned icons to shapes for the non-earth suits as well, this makes for a much more consistent style and theme. By the way, did you replace viruses with grain and baryonic matter with planets?

Thanks Joe! That makes me so happy to hear.

Damn these are cool. I definitely love the blockier art you've given this edition of the deck. I personally think that everything you've asked about for the design works really well and I especially love the new backs. God, I wish I had some kind of feedback other than that they're really cool, but I can't think of anything. Also those colors are slaps!
