There are a ton of games played on hex boards, including those that use a regular number of sides (such as TZAAR and Blooms) and many that use irregular boards (such as DVONN and Ragnarocks). This magnetic modular hex board can be quickly reconfigured to create a board of any shape and size.

Each hex tile has six slots compatible with any OpenLock clip. To magnetize the tiles, I'm using my custom magnetic OpenLock clips (download here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3612827). For the strongest connection I'm using the dual ball-magnet clips shown below. If desired you could use normal OpenLock clips to make a totally solid board.

I swapped out the filament halfway through printing each tile so that the top and bottom were different colors. This means that changing the pattern of the board simply requires flipping a tile and putting it back into place.

The dual ball-magnet clip provides a sturdy connection between tiles:

The dual ball-magnet clips provide enough strength the board can be picked up with a bit of care (the tiles are still held together with magnets after all).
While the debate between grid boards and hex boards has raged on since the beginning of gaming, you can now get the best of both worlds by combining the magnetic hex board with the magnetic grid board using a special transition piece:

I'm not aware of any games that would use such a bizarre board configuration, but the important thing is that peace has finally been achieved between fans of grid boards and fans of hex boards.
