Thank you all for voting and helping me choose Greta's basic color scheme! And with that, she's ready to move on to the next stage of concept art with Gaurou: fullbody! owo I typically don't go that into depth for some of my designs, but for main characters I find it helps me get a good idea of their base look if I start with their head then work my way down.
At any rate: Billy Goat's Ruff is what I'm planning for my next upcoming story; it was gonna be fanart, but I find I'm still a little burnt out on fan headcanons and wanna focus more on original stuff, and this idea hit like a truck. I'm very excited to work on it and share more with ya'll!
More information on the story will be given soon, but for now, have an elevator pitch + a blurb for Greta and Gaurou! :)
--------
There's a troll in the wood; hungry and waiting for any foolish soft-mouth to wander into its maw. Greta is stuck in this miserable, god-fearing town with nowhere to go, and no one to turn to. She goes through the motions of every day monotony, sinking deeper into a growing pit of resentment for the life she lives. But one odd day, a strange sheep stumbles into town, looking for work and a place to stay.
Billy Goat's Ruff is a dark story and a very loose retelling of the fairytale Three Billy Goat's Gruff. It holds a light mystery while focuses on finding a place in a world that claims it doesn't want you, and finding the bravery to be vulnerable in the face of fear.
-------
GRETA: A female goat who doesn't belong in the town she ended up in. Abruptly widowed when her husband fell prey to the troll terrorizing the town, Greta is the only one who believes there's something fishy about his death, but no one else believes her. Disillusioned with life, she's become jaded, bitter, and quick to go on the defensive. But underneath her prickly exterior is a tired woman who only wishes to be seen. To be heard.
GAUROU: An abnormally tall female(?) sheep who breezed into town in search of answers. She's the very definition of "strange" to the other soft-mouths: low-voiced, lacking in fear, calm in the face of danger, she's shrouded in mystery as far as the town is concerned. And as such, no one really wants her there; they see her as a sort of omen, and in some ways they're probably right. Yet despite the cold shoulders Gaurou receives, she remains polite, gentle, and quietly kind.
