Ash and Boof designs

One of my ambitions for 2024 is to update my Patreon with some TLC and a fresh coat of paint. One such thing is to lock in a more central theme for promo art and such, and I LOVE monsters and lore and food. So that's what I'm gonna make!

Before I get to work on the new art (stuff like Tier Badge art, banner, Thank You message art, so on) I first needed to get a concrete design for the creatures that'll be the subject of the theme, and who better than to use my own sona as a test subject? :)

Boof (left) and Ash (left), as they are as monsters. The monsters in question were jokingly called Boofs (based on the low barking sound they can make) but the name stayed, so that's the name of the species now! These creatures can transform from this monster form to humanoid shapes, but Boof (the character) is the only one that can't. Something something origin creature something something.

On a serious note though, Boof and Ash are not the same; Boof's the Patreon's mascot while Ash is, predictably, my sona. She's basically me if I were a creeeeechor. BUT ANYWAY! These redesigns both acted as a fresh coat of paint for these characters (their older versions can be seen in the last two images of the post) but ALSO the blueprint for the design of the "Boof" species as a whole.

The rough sketch seen is 3 of the 4 variations of these monsters, and once they're lined (Boof and Ash's sketches altered to be more neutral) I'm gonna be releasing a lineart pack of them that ya'll can color if you'd like. Create yer own Boofy monster and such. :) As said earlier, it's because of the upcoming Patreon theme change; my theme will basically be a "monster mash" or "monster picnic", revolving around these critters as the representation of the community members including myself. The Patreon in turn will gain flavored lore around the promo art and stuff, and I'm hoping to make some mini paints of the critters as the patreon (hopefully) grows in the future.
