Reward Setup (Test 3)
Added 2021-07-19 22:30:25 +0000 UTCSoooo I've been thinking a little bit about the $5 tier and while the reception to the giveaway/raffle idea was very good, a couple of ya did bring of some good points regarding it! Specifically, Patreon's rules regarding them here. While my initial idea was to just regulate them to Discord I've thought more on it and I think it might not be a good idea, so I'm scrapping it. SO! Here's another tweak to the rewards
- Tier 1 ($1): Support Tier | Voting access and Early Access to WIPs, sketches, and art exclusive to Patreon | Discord access |
- Tier 2: ($10): Art Reward (every 4 months) Derpi-Doodle or Pen-10-Min sketch| Commission early reservation access | 10% off all commissions |10 slots available
- Tier 3: ($35): Art rewards (every 2 months) available: Icons, Chibis, fullbody sketches, "Little Adventurer" 1-off designs, Expression sheet (4 expressions) | 15% off all commissions | 5 slots available
- Tier 4: ($50): Art Rewards available (every 2 months): Character Island, Character roughout, Character Design (moodboard based), 1 comic page (sketched) | 20% off all commissions | 5 slots available
The changes here include a lower indefinite discount for each tier and the total deletion of the $5 tier.
Reasoning behind the drop in discount is because they are intended to be stackable with repeat client discounts, so I wanted to reduce the amount they'd take off. This way, even without the stack, folks could get a good chunk off my commissions without me handicapping myself.
As for the possible nuke on the $5 tier, it's mostly because I honestly can't think of anything else within Patreon's rules that'd be worth it. It also doesn't really offer much that'd warrant the increase I don't think. If I rid of the $5 tier I could instead make the $10 tier give a tiny bit more in way of giving supporters of the tier another option of art reward to choose from, as well as maybe increase the amount to 15 slots instead of my initial 10 as compromise?
The only thing I can think of in keeping the $5 tier in tact is like... maybe a yearly art reward? The reward itself will still remain small, prob no more than a headshot sketch since this tier wouldn't be limited, but it could be like a thank-you for remaining pledged for the entirety of the year?? I dunno; any suggestions is greatly appreciated! ;w;

Dang it, you and Kyrit are right. I originally began to offer early access to EVERYTHING on my patreon for the $1 tier so it'd be at a low and fair price to everyone. Unfortunately I've been noticing a pattern lately; lots of folks join at the $1, stay for the month to see all content, then bail once the payment goes through. Not that it's all that bad but it does kinda sucks :C I suppose that's largely why all other creators seem to keep the lower tiers low-risk. I guess now would be a good time to start moving to that model if I plan on moving more of my focus to Patreon as a whole. I really like the monthly pic idea especially! That's the one thing I haven't fully tried here so it's def worth a shot. I also like the content-centric request streams idea; maybe I could have some that are themed based on the content I feel like drawing at that given moment? FnF requests only, Super Mario only, open floor for any fandom requests, maybe the occasional surprise oc-request stream as thank you? O: These are great suggestions, thank you! owo

Even without 5% off in commissions, or any art rewards, I'd still think it worth to have a $5 Tier. The $1 Tier you think of here offers a lot, I think. So I'd suggest the same for a $1 Tier as Kyrit: Voting Access and Early Access to WIPs (but keeping it to WIPs). Gives nice things still where people can have a voice and look into what's going on at the Patreon. For $5 Tier, alike to Kyrit too: Early Access to complete/coloured works, Discord, Access to Patreon Exclusive Works. Maybe move the Early Commission Reservation to here? The $10 Tier (and forward) already gets art rewards, so maybe give the one lower tier early access as well? But do not take any percentage in commissions off. A thing that could be offered is maybe a request stream once a month? But not in the "doodle my OC" type of stream, but instead where people can request to see doodles of the F&F cast in situations, or doodles of certain HCs you have to LoZ, MLP, etc etc. So it gets mixed with putting out more content that's not commissions, but still based on something people ask for. Option to suggest a monthly pic? I know a few artists do so they have their Patreon Exclusive art, and one of the larger pieces that are to be made during the month they put up the option for people to throw suggestions. When people have spend 1-2 days suggesting, then everyone get told they have 1-2 days to put likes/hearts on all the comment-suggestions they like, and then the top 5 most liked in the end gets slapped in a poll where people can then vote for the final winner of that month. What people can then suggest within is then something you can always narrow down with "It has to be F&F, LoZ, or MLP themed" or "It has to be themed within these 4 AUs I have for MLP" etc etc. so it still gets based on what you (sorta) want to draw for this month, but also gives others the possibility to affect it for one or two pics a month.

2021-07-20 12:25:03 +0000 UTCI honestly did too, but Patreon explicitly states that it's considered gambling and therefore not allowed. Like I mentioned above I initially figured i could just offer it on my discord but I ultimately decided I didnt want to risk it. I'll need an alternative or just nuke the $5 tier entirely.
