You look cold, darling

"Oh darling, you look cold! Here."

Peach blinks in surprise as Pauline moves to stand before her, shucking her jacket off and swinging it over her head in one smooth motion. Before the princess could protest, the jacket is draped securely over her shoulders, the remnant of Pauline's warmth still clinging to the cloth. Peach can't help but nestle deeper into the jacket, letting its comfort chase away the bite of the cold.

She watches as Pauline tugs gently at the lapels once, twice, three times, and her face grows warm when one hand reaches up to tuck a flyaway behind her ear. The mayor takes a moment to look at her, gaze searching, and only when she finds what she's looking for does she fully lean away with a soft "there now".

It's such a simple act of kindness yet, as her eyes find Pauline's, Peach finds herself rendered speechless for the briefest of moments.

Her stupor is broken with a flutter of her eyelashes and, suddenly shy, she looks away.

"I... thank you," she says, fingers busying themselves with toying with a button on the jacket. Peach only looks back up when a thought occurs to her, furrowing her brows as she looks up at the taller woman.

"But, what about you? Aren't you cold too?"

Pauline shrugs with a noncommittal hum as she slides her hands into her pockets, looking for all the world unbothered by the pitter-patter of the storm soaking her through. Her hair sticks stubbornly to her cheeks even as she blows it out of her face, and when she sees Peach raise a brow she offers a sweet smile.

"I'll be fine, darling; the cold never bothered me much. Besides," Pauline grabs the rim of her beloved hat and gently places it atop Peach's head, "I still have a tour to give you. I'd be an awful host if I left you cold and shivering, now wouldn't I?"

Pauline and Peach supremacy! >:) For context, Pauline takes Peach on a tour of Metro Kingdom when it suddenly starts raining. Pauline gives Peach both her hat and jacket to keep her from getting too soaked, and Peach is very appreciative :)
