Patreon Change announcement
Added 2020-02-12 13:39:39 +0000 UTCI've been sitting on this decision and turning it around in my head for the past month or so, but after weighing the pros and cons and just overall what I want, I think it's about time I made this announcement now that I've come to a decision.
April 2020 will be the last month I'll be dishing out art-based awards. I'm gonna be totally honest, I think I underestimated the amount of work keeping up with patreon rewards would be on top of creating content and full-timing commissions, and with about 60-70+ commissions a month my priority is usually revolving around them. It isn't fair to keep ya'll on a secondary priority list like that, but in addition to that I work myself up in a tizzy over Patreon and how fast I can get everything done. It feels a lot like my burnout albeit on a smaller scale, but if I keep it up it's gonna end in burnout and I really wanna avoid that because jesus christ that sucked.
I honestly wanted to make February the last reward month but I wanna at least give ya'll one more round of reward art before it's stopped entirely, so here we are.
SO! What does this mean? Everyone who's on a tier that promises art for their patronage will indeed be able to redeem that reward for one last time after April 5th. If you do want to redeem your reward for April you have to allow the 5th to pass for it to count as the usual 2 months, otherwise I won't fulfill that request. THAT SAID, if you do not wanna continue being a patron by that time please cancel your pledge before the end of February! That way Patreon won't charge you anymore from here on out.
My overall plan regarding February and April's rewards are to schedule them like I do my commissions when April rolls around. I'm gonna try to finish them all within the month but just be aware that I might have to space them out in order to keep from burning myself out entirely!
That said, what's gonna happen to this Patreon?
Well, I'm gonna make the tiers available for pledging strictly discount-based. Meaning every single tier that will be available will give supporters unlimited discounts on my commissions for as long as you're a Patron. This includes the $1 Tier. This is how the discounts will work:
Tier 1 ($1 pledge): $5 discount off any commission at any time
Tier 2 ($5 pledge): $10 discount off any commission at any time
Tier 3 ($10 pledge): $20 discount off any commission at any time
These three tiers will not have art rewards attached to them and all of the tiers past that will be deleted. The only tier I might keep and continue offering reward art for is maybe the $25 tier. 4 additional pieces of art on top of my commissions shouldn't be nearly as stressing as 20 or so additional pieces.
I might add one more tier too, an expensive one but the reward will be monthly instead of bi-monthly. Actually, maybe I should just change the $25 tier into a monthly reward too? It'll be a smaller reward, but it'll be consistently once a month instead of once every two months to balance that out. So with that said, those two art reward tiers would most likely look like this:
Tier 4 ($25 pledge) Chibi Sketch w/color monthly +$10 off any commission at any time
(4 person limit)
Tier 5 ($50 pledge) Fullbody sketch w/color monthly + $20 off any commission at any time
(2 person limit)
I'd also would love to focus more on posting content and making content based on ya'lls input, like the Saturday Short Tips pages or maybe a community vote for one specific piece I should create. I haven't fully figured out what else I could offer as far as content goes though. Maybe I should go back to making patreon exclusive sneak peeks? Not paywalled maybe, but sneak peeks that are posted only on Patreon perhaps?
I'd love to make a goal where animated content would be shown and perhaps voted on for suggestions of what I animate; I've been wanting to get back into it but I could never find the time to. Suggestions here would be very welcomed for sure.
But yeah. I just wanted to give ya'll an early heads up to what I'm thinking and the situation with my patreon in terms of coming changes. I gave this model my damndest because I wanted this patreon to be worthwhile to you guys, your support deserves that much, but I bit off more than I could chew, so it's about time I swallow my fear and pride and dial it back some. Thank you all so much for your support thus far and your patience and I apologize for needing to change the model. :C
If you have any questions, suggestions, concerns, please lemme know!

Thank you so much, I appreciate it! As for the piggy bank rewards, I think I'm gonna say yes to your question; I'd rather have everyone cash in their rewards at the same time so I can make myself a list and get immediately to working on finishing them so no one's left waiting for too long. o3o

2020-02-13 23:54:34 +0000 UTCDefinitely look after yourself and avoid burnout. Like other people said, you won’t lose support for these changes, and the discounts you’re proposing are still fair. One question: if we’ve got piggy bank rewards, do we need to claim those by April too?
2020-02-13 12:12:15 +0000 UTCThank you Mono! Here's hopin' this'll work for everyone and not just me ;w;

2020-02-13 00:37:46 +0000 UTCI think I'm a little confused by the "one per" versus the "stack" question. Like do you mean can these discounts stack with the other Commission discounts I offer when I open them? O: If so, probably yes but for like, higher-priced commissions. o3o

2020-02-13 00:37:33 +0000 UTCI'm afraid they won't be free, no, the headshots anyway. I haven't decided if these discounts will go toward Mini-commissions since they're already pretty low in price anyway, but even if I did my headshots aren't $10 o3o

2020-02-13 00:35:38 +0000 UTCAww, man! I was planning on a chibi series since I’m in the $10 tier. But I think it’s ok to cancel it for now, and I think I can do the final three mini-commission headshot works since they are now going to be free for me!

2020-02-12 22:08:26 +0000 UTCI'm just new here so changing the tiers makes no real difference to me, but I like the tips and voting and early release ideas, and I'll never say no to sale commissions! Would the discounts stack like they currently do, or just be a 'one per' option (not sure which would be more stressful to you)?

2020-02-12 18:47:52 +0000 UTCIt'll be sad to see the art rewards go, but it's good to recognize your needs and act on them! You won't lose my support for the decision. =) just keep making awesome art, Earth.
