A real quick grayscale sketch I did last night before bed: how I see the Twilight Realm in LoZ. There isn't much visual wise as far as the canon goes and, in TP, the Twilight Realm is.... well. Underwhelming. I think it's just the limitations of technology of that time but like still, it was pretty poor in comparison to the rest of the game.
So I'm trying to see if I can make it at least a little more visually interesting! Wish me luck on that front. o3o
If you need a little more context over what you're lookin' at, it's the main "entry point" that allows passage between the Light Realm and the Twilight Realm, of which gives visitors a good view of the central city of their realm. The entry point is something I'll try to sketch out later for better visual reference, but the city itself is a vast expanse of architecture sitting upon floating islands, all of which are connected by bridges. The Palace of the Queen sits in dead center, surrounded by other islands that carry the homes and backbone of their population.
Their realm's world is mostly composed of floating land masses and, while they have lakes and rivers, they don't actually have any oceans for said lands to sit on (hence why the water tends to just run off the sides if no barrier is in place). They simply levitate over what's seemingly an endless abyss, which it isn't but hardly anyone ever ventures to the "Deep Dark" of the Twilight Realm, not even the natives.
Still need to work on my BGs and find a style that works for me when it comes to concept art on landscapes but, I'm honestly really happy with how this one came out so far. Now I gotta do the scary part... add color. ;-;
