You can absolutely choose to not read this but I'll never forget how this chapter ends - I had to put it down and walk away from it for like a solid two weeks. It's extra cruel being from Catelyn's POV, she utterly loses her mind. You can really see it in her actress' face too, she definitely nailed the inner monologue. ... 'It hurts so much,' she thought. 'Our children, Ned, all our sweet babes. Rickon, Bran, Arya, Sansa, Robb . . . Robb . . . please, Ned, please, make it stop, make it stop hurting . . .' The white tears and the red ones ran together until her face was torn and tattered, the face that Ned had loved. Catelyn Stark raised her hands and watched the blood run down her long fingers, over her wrists, beneath the sleeves of her gown. Slow red worms crawled along her arms and under her clothes. 'It tickles.' That made her laugh until she screamed. ‘‘Mad,’’ someone said, ‘‘she’s lost her wits,’’ and someone else said, ‘‘Make an end,’’ and a hand grabbed her scalp just as she’d done with [her hostage], and she thought, 'No, don’t, don’t cut my hair, Ned loves my hair.' Then the steel was at her throat, and its bite was red and cold.

This episode is so hard to watch every time 😔 I hope that it didn't hit too hard Sputnik. Poor Arya, from the minute she left king's landing she was always just one step away from getting to her family. Something ALWAYS got in the way. Oh man the AltShiftX shout-out!! I didn't find him until a year or two ago so I didn't realize he covered the original GoT run, but I've seen all of his House of the Dragon recap videos and he is EXCELLENT at explaining stuff and bringing in book context without spoiling what's coming up. Definitely give him a look. He basically does what I've been doing but better and way more thorough and entertaining LMAO I take issue with Jojen saying "no one can do that" actually. Technically any powerful warg has the ability to warg into another human, which is why I found your "warging into a baby" idea SO INTERESTING, but wargs are so rare there's only a few besides Bran who have the skill to do it, and it's considered one of the ultimate taboos. There is one other warg we know of (book only ofc, it's a stand alone chapter in book 5) who jumps into another human and it is violent and terrifying. It might be up there with some of the scariest chapters George RR Martin has ever written. It makes me feel so sorry for Hodor, because the way they describe it from Bran's inner monologue is like... he feels guilty because he can definitely still feel Hodor in there with him, but it's like he's hiding away in some corner of his mind. He lets Bran do it but doesn't understand what's happening or why. I have to give the showrunners props where they're actually due, the red wedding was THE moment that made them want to adapt Game of Thrones, and it shows. There are very few significant changes here from the books aside from Robb's wife being there (she is a totally different character in the books, the daughter of one of Tywin's bannermen, and she stays at Riverrun for the red wedding to avoid insulting the Freys - she isn't pregnant either so that first stab was shocking even for me when I first watched it!). I have to give Catelyn's actress MAJOR props here, she really acted her heart out. In interviews she said it was one of the most devastating things she's ever acted out and was really not okay for a while afterwards. It's even worse to think about in Robb's case, because of the whole "wargs live on in their animals after death" thing. In the books ALL of the Stark children are wargs - they just don't know about it like Bran does. So people theorize that Robb really died twice - once in the hall, and again when they shot Grey Wind (which was originally after the red wedding not during). 😭
