GOT 2X9 Blackwater UNCUT REACTION

Holy moly they definitely blew their budget on this episode. So much happened and it was all fantastic. Stannis was pretty brave fighting on the front lines contrasted against Joffrey's cowardice. Stannis taking a compete L to Renly's forces and Tywin was also a surprise. Where tf was Robb?

Ah that was the doll! I knew it had some meaning but I just couldn't remember who it was from. Nice catch! I wish she had left too. Idk if I can stand much more of her under the Lannisters thumb. I agree, it was definitely nice to hear Bronn sing and butt heads with Sandor especially since we didn't see that much of Bronn during the battle. Omg him being afraid of fire makes so much sense now! I assumed that was alluded to more obviously in the books because I completely missed it watching the show. That also explains him immediately wanting a drink! Damn Tywin is an antagonist I love to hate. The show is clearly showing that although Robb has the confidence and bravery that comes with youth Tywin is so seasoned in warfare that he can read him like a book. I guess I have to start hating the Tyrells too now.

Yessss finally got around to watching this one, Blackwater is one of my favourite episodes, it's directed by one of the show runners from House of the Dragon! I think cutting scenes between the battle and the women in Maegor's holdfast was a brilliant way to balance the pacing, and it's pretty similar to how the chapters bounce back and forth during the battle in the books which is neat! I also wish so badly that Sansa went with Sandor when he came (somehow I didn't notice this before but the doll she picks up is the one Ned gives her in early season one, which is so sad omg) but at this point I get that she's utterly terrified of him, and terrified of what's going on outside of the red keep. She basically just chickened out. The scene that actually doesn't make sense to me is the one between Bronn and Sandor, I always found that scene to be a little awkward. Not really sure what they were doing with that, other than maybe giving Bronn's actor the chance to sing us The Rains of Castamere since he has a lovely singing voice?? Dunno. Or to build up the relationship between them before battle Vs in battle, since Sandor breaks and runs (which is because of his fear of fire! Seeing those dudes on fire had to trigger PTSD flashbacks from his childhood 😔) So Robb is currently at the crag, which is in the Westerlands, he hoped by being in Tywin's lands that he would provoke Tywin to go after him (he mutters "too close to Casterly Rock" right before he decides to leave, which is why Arya thinks he's going after Robb) but Tywin is too seasoned to fall for such an obvious ploy, and thanks to Littlefinger's visit, he makes the decision to meet up with the Tyrells (Renly's queen/boyfriend's family) and take out Stannis first instead, then regroup. It's a brilliant move, strategically.
