1.「あんたねぇ・・・」

曇りの日はいつも憂鬱だ。体質のせいなのか、やたらと身体が重くなり、朝のアラームを無意識に止めては二度寝して遅刻したことは一度や二度ではない。

今日は彼女とのデートで朝9時に待ち合わせなのに、すでに11時だ。スマホを見ると、彼女からの通知で埋まっていた。急いで連絡すると、彼女は無言で通話を切った。どうしようかと悩んでいると、数分後に「下に降りてきて」と短いメッセージが送られてきた。寝癖もそのままにマンションの1階に向かうと、彼女が鋭い目つきでこちらを睨んでいた。

「あんたねぇ・・・」

今日は近所のショッピングモールのセールに付き合うということで早めの集合だったのに、これでは彼女の目当ての品はもう売り切れているかもしれない。これだけ怒るのも当然だ。もはや謝って許されることではないが、どうにかして挽回しなければ。横でずっと小言をぶつけてくる彼女に何度も謝罪しながら、ショッピングモールへと向かった。

2.「なに驚いてるんですか・・・自分から誘ったくせに」

勇気を出して会社の後輩を週末のデートに誘ったが、半ばやけくそ気味に場所や時間を提案する俺を、彼女は無言でじっと見つめるだけだった。急に「ごめんね」と謝ってしまい、すっかり意気消沈して迎えた週末。どうせやることもないから、提案した広場へ向かい、ぼんやりと佇んでいると、誰かが目の前で足を止めた。顔を上げると、後輩が感情の読めない瞳で俺を見下ろしていた。

「…えっ」

口をぽかんと開けて固まる俺を見て、彼女が少しムッとした表情で言った。

「なんで驚いてるんですか…自分から誘ったくせに」

予想外の展開に頭が追いつかない。それでも、胸の奥からじわりと喜びが込み上げてくる。来なきゃ良かったと思われないよう、早く冷静になって、彼女が楽しめるデートをリードしなければ…。

3.バイト先の生意気な後輩

「また馬鹿っぽい顔してますね」

バイトの休憩中、帰宅したら今日発売のゲームに没頭しようと妄想していると、後輩がゴミを見るような目つきで吐き捨てた。

「休憩中くらい、どんな顔してたっていいだろ……」

やるべき仕事はきちんとこなしているし、いつも怒られないギリギリのラインで手を抜いているような奴に説教されたくない。

「仕事中も大して変わらないですよ？」

はっと嘲笑する彼女を思わず睨みつけたが、彼女はまるで意に介さない様子だった。

「じゃあ、お先に」

すたすたと出口へ歩きながら、こちらを一瞥もせず言い放つと、彼女は帰っていった。本当に生意気な女だ。このストレスを発散するためにも、帰ったら徹夜でゲームをやり込もう……。

1. "Honestly, you..."

Cloudy days always make me feel gloomy. Whether it's my constitution or not, my body gets terribly heavy, and I've lost count of how many times I've unconsciously turned off my morning alarm, fallen back asleep, and been late.

Today I was supposed to meet my girlfriend at 9 AM for a date, but it's already 11. When I checked my phone, it was flooded with notifications from her. I hurriedly called her back, but she hung up without saying a word. As I was wondering what to do, a few minutes later I received a short message: "Come down." I headed down to the first floor of my apartment building with my bedhead still a mess, and there she was, glaring at me with sharp eyes.

"Honestly, you..."

We were meeting early because she wanted to go to a sale at the nearby shopping mall, but at this rate, the items she was after might already be sold out. No wonder she's this angry. It's already beyond the point where an apology would suffice, but I have to find some way to make it up to her. Apologizing over and over to her as she kept complaining beside me, we headed to the shopping mall.

2. "Why are you so surprised... when you're the one who invited me?"

I worked up the courage to invite my junior colleague from work on a weekend date, but as I half-desperately suggested places and times, she just stared at me silently. I suddenly apologized, and the weekend arrived with my spirits completely dampened. Since I had nothing else to do anyway, I headed to the plaza I'd suggested and was standing there absentmindedly when someone stopped right in front of me. I looked up to find my junior looking down at me with unreadable eyes.

"...Huh?"

Seeing me freeze with my mouth hanging open, she said with a slightly annoyed expression:

"Why are you so surprised... when you're the one who invited me?"

My mind can't keep up with this unexpected turn of events. Still, joy slowly wells up from deep in my chest. I need to calm down quickly and lead a date she'll enjoy, so she won't regret coming...

3. The Cheeky Junior at My Part-Time Job

"You've got that dumb look on your face again."

During my break at work, as I was fantasizing about immersing myself in the game coming out today once I got home, my junior spat out those words while looking at me like I was garbage.

"I can make whatever face I want during my break..."

I do my job properly, and I don't want to be lectured by someone who's always slacking off just enough to barely avoid getting in trouble.

"You're not much different during work either, you know?"

I glared at her as she let out a mocking laugh, but she seemed completely unfazed.

"Well, I'm heading out."

Walking briskly toward the exit without even glancing my way, she left. What a cheeky woman. To blow off this stress, I'll pull an all-nighter gaming when I get home...
