1. "Don't be so down"

Without the energy to even put on the fake smile I'd perfected in sales, I was walking through the office with my head down and a gloomy expression when someone suddenly blocked my path.

"Don't be so down"

I looked up to see a senior colleague from the neighboring department smiling at me. She was my senior from university days—we'd only been acquaintances back then, but after coincidentally meeting again at this company, we naturally became friends.

"I can't help feeling down... nothing's going right for me"

Usually I'd have enough composure to put on a brave face, but today even that felt too difficult. Still smiling, she placed her hand on my shoulder and said in a slightly exaggerated cheerful voice, as if trying to lift my spirits:

"As your university senior, I'll hear you out. Let's go to an izakaya later."

"No... I'd rather just rest..."

"It's decided then. See you later."

I watched her walk away before I could protest, and gave a wry smile. I really did want to rest, but maybe I needed a change of pace too. Today I decided to accept my senior's kindness.

2. "Why are you staring at me?"

My friend's older sister finally agreed to go on a date with me after I'd been persistently asking her out. Probably just to get me to stop bothering her. Even so, I was overjoyed.

We wandered around an outlet mall, but I found myself looking more at her than the stores. The way she lit up when finding a bargain from her favorite brand was unfairly cute. Like a child, her eyes sparkled as she gazed at the bag, making my heart flutter.

Probably tired from all the walking, she leaned against a railing. Even that casual gesture looked so beautiful I couldn't take my eyes off her.

"Why are you staring at me?"

She noticed me openly staring at her from a slight distance and tossed the words at me with an exasperated look. It seemed cold at first glance, but I knew it was half just to hide her embarrassment. Though she appears cool, she's actually a very shy person.

I'd continued to ask her out prepared to be rejected, and now I could say it was a day well worth it.

3. (That was amazing...)

When I woke up, there was a tingling in my lower abdomen. Not pain. More like a numbness, like having a gentle massage machine left on too long—a pleasant lingering sensation. I had a feeling why. No, I knew exactly why.

His scent was still on my skin. The moment I recalled last night, the tingling intensified.

(That was amazing...)
