1.「つまんない部屋だけど我慢して！」

中学時代からの友人が、実家から一人暮らし用のマンションに引っ越したとのことで、早速部屋に招かれることになった。

幼馴染のような関係なので、今さら気を遣うような仲ではないが、一人暮らしの異性の部屋に遊びに行くという事実に変わりはない。

当日。わざわざ新しく買った服を着て、鏡の前で髪を整える。客観的に見れば、浮かれて空回りしているようにしか見えないだろうなと、苦笑した。なぜこんなにそわそわしているのか。別にデートというわけではなく、いつも通り会うだけなのに。

彼女にいつもと違うと思われたら、面倒くさくなりそうだ。綺麗にセットした髪を、わざと少し崩してから家を出た。

2.「うわ、どこ見てんの？」

近頃の悩みは、バイト先で同じシフトのギャルが頻繁にからかってくることだ。

正直、めちゃくちゃ好みのルックスなので、必死に理性を保とうとしても、ついちらちらと見てしまう。そのうえ私服の露出が高く、視線で追ってしまうのはもはや反射に近い。

彼女はそんな俺のことなどお見通しで、むしろ見せつけるような動きをしては、俺のほうを見てクスクス笑う。ルックスは最高、でも性格は最低。とはいえ、見た目が良すぎて嫌いになれない。欲望に忠実な自分の惨めさに落ち込みながら下を向いていると、ギャルが姿を現した。

いつも以上に露出の高い服装に、思わず普通に見とれてしまう。まずいと思って慌てて顔を上げると、にやにやと心底楽しそうにこちらを見ている彼女と目が合った。

「うわ、どこ見てんの？」

「……」

言い訳が通じそうもないこの状況では、何を言っても無駄だ。視線をそらし、そそくさと仕事場へ向かう。油断するとすぐ勃起しそうになる股間に気を配りながら、なんとか今日も乗り切らなければ。

3.「さすがにクーラー効きすぎ！」

休日の昼頃。猛暑で気が滅入る中、リビングのエアコンを全開にしていると、こんな時間まで寝ていた彼女がリビングに来た。顔をしかめ、腕をさすりながら文句を言ってきた。

「さすがにクーラー効きすぎ！」

「暑いんだから仕方ないだろ……昼まで寝てたくせに偉そうなやつだな」

「起きてたし！スマホいじってただけだし！いいからちょっと温度上げて！」

「仕方ねえなぁ……」

むしろもっと下げたいくらいだが、しぶしぶ設定温度を2度上げた。引きこもってスマホばかりいじっているから体感温度がおかしくなっているんじゃないか。運動しないのに全然太らないのは謎だが、健康に悪いのは間違いない。俺が通っているジムにでも無理やり連れ出すか……。

1.「It’s a boring room, but bear with it!」

A friend from middle school had just moved out of her parents’ place into a one-room apartment, and I was invited over right away.

We’re practically childhood friends, so there’s no need for formalities—but I’m still about to visit an opposite-sex friend who lives alone.

The day came. I put on the brand-new clothes I’d bought just for this and fixed my hair in front of the mirror. Anyone looking in from the outside would say I was overexcited and spinning my wheels; I had to laugh at myself. Why am I this jumpy? It isn’t even a date—we’re just hanging out like always.

If she noticed I looked different, it might get awkward. After styling my hair neatly, I deliberately mussed it up a bit and left the house.

2.「Whoa, where are you looking?」

My current headache is the gal on the same shift who keeps teasing me.

She’s totally my type, so no matter how hard I try to stay rational, my eyes keep drifting her way. Her casual outfits show a lot of skin, and chasing her with my gaze is practically a reflex.

She knows all of this, of course. She even flaunts herself on purpose, then looks over and giggles. Looks: perfect. Personality: the worst. But she’s too gorgeous to dislike. While I stare at the floor, depressed by my own slavish desire, she strolls in.

Today her outfit is even skimpier, and I catch myself staring outright. Panicking, I snap my head up—only to lock eyes with her grinning face.

「Whoa, where are you looking?」

No excuse will work here; anything I say is pointless. I avert my eyes and hurry back to my station, mindful of my crotch, which threatens to spring to life if I let my guard down. Somehow I have to survive another shift.

3. “The AC’s way too cold!”

Around midday on my day off, the heat was brutal, so I cranked the living-room AC. She’d slept in, and when she shuffled in she frowned and hugged her arms.

“The AC’s way too cold!”

“It’s boiling out; can’t be helped… You slept till noon and now you’re acting all high and mighty.”

“I was awake! Just scrolling on my phone! Come on, turn the temp up a bit!”

“Fine, fine…”

Honestly, I wanted it even colder, but I grudgingly raised the setting by two degrees. She’s always holed up scrolling on her phone—no wonder her sense of temperature is shot. She never gains weight despite never exercising, which is a mystery, but it’s definitely unhealthy. Maybe I’ll just drag her to the gym I go to…
