Mint Chok-lit (Sketch, Very mild nudity)

The Bear from the 'Chok-lit' image is back.

She was thrilled to find this mystical thing known as 'Mint Chok-lit' and had to show her friend.  Cinders didn't have the heart to tell her that it was common in Cydwyllan around that time of year (The mint there is renown).  It was an excuse to get out, have mint chocolate and visit.

I wanted to try a holiday-esque image and the more I worked on this the more I start dreading actually figuring out the colour palette and painting this.  It will be a learning experience to say the least.

I ended up having to actually do a few mock-up buildings in Sketchup to figure out the sense of scale and placement to make the street a bit believable, and found that the '3d drawing dolls' that Clip Studio has in it were _amazingly_ helpful when figuring out placement of people at a distance.  I used to use the perspective ruler's to plot out heights along a plane, which often took a fair while if the image had a ton of background figures.  I'm sure it was a sense of stubborn 'pride' that stopped me from using them for this before.

Just a reminder to patrons, I won't be doing a patron sketch for December.  With people travelling for the holiday and new years, and the general chaos that comes with that, as well as my own running around during that time, I wouldn't be able to sketch something out on top of the painting for this month, and the few sketches that will be posted.  I apologize for that.  But the spot will be held, and given out in early January as its a fixed list.

Should have a little time to work on inks of this image soon, and after that, the dreaded colour stage!

Thankya kindly! And hope the holidays are good for you too! :)

Cinders is a bit of an odd one out. She's fairly immune to the effects of cold (due to her bloodline, and exposure to 'Ashen shadow' when growing up). But Lorrnathi cities generally don't care one way or the other. They only ask that you wear a tie in fancy places ;)

There will definitely be more of her. I still don't know her name, but she and Cinders seem to be good friends at least.

This is such an intriguing piece and I can't wait to see what you do with it! I love the bear, but I guess I'm biased.

I've missed this Bear lady and hope to see more of her!

Perfesser Bear

I couldn't imagine walking around in an urban environment sans pants. However, THIS I love. :-)

Those tools are important and you really showed how to use them! This is fantastic. Love the setting and the warm feelings it invokes. Glad the 3D figures helped out too. Always good to find new resources and tools to help with the work. Good luck over the holiday season. I hope it goes well for you.

I like the city scene. I do wonder however, what is not mild nudity? Undressed horse girls always welcome.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with using scale tools. I never understood the few amateur-background artists who claim that it's "cheating" -- no, no it really isn't. Reference tools, maquettes physical and virtual...all totally legit, time-honored tools. When I learned about scale and distance, those tools didn't exist...but that doesn't mean that I'm somehow "more legit" for using the old ways. (Rather, it means that I'm old, and I wish I'd had some of these tools in my sketching days!)
